Taking care of the health of union members
Recently, when the Binh Tan Technology Motorbike Taxi Union organized a free medical examination at Quoc Anh General Hospital, Ms. Diep Tu Trang, a union member of this union, was very happy.
Ms. Trang recounted that she knows and clearly appreciates the value of health insurance cards, especially when she is in an accident or sick, but as a single mother raising young children who are in school, and an elderly and weak parent who has no income and rents a room, she does not dare to buy health insurance but saves money for other essential needs.
From the mobilization of the Binh Tan Technology Motorbike Taxi Union, 400 union members were given free medical examinations in various specialties.
Not only that, Ms. Trang is also one of 820 union members and workers who received free health insurance cards launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation and supported by philanthropists. Ms. Trang shared: "Actually, thanks to the trade union, I can receive health care. Now I am much less worried because I have a health insurance card, a "magic" to ensure my health.
Also being given a free health insurance card, Ms. Le Thi Tuyet Hoa, another motorbike taxi union member, confided: "With this health insurance card, we no longer have too many worries when we are sick. This health insurance card is not only material but also a great spiritual encouragement, helping us to have more confidence in the social security policies of the Party and the State, and clearly feel the concern and love of the community and the Trade Union organization.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, said that surveys show that some workers doing freelance jobs such as motorbike taxi driving, delivering goods, selling groceries, selling lottery tickets, babysitting... do not have health insurance, and are prone to difficulties when sick. From there, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has mobilized businesses to join hands to support the donation of 820 health insurance cards to the above subjects with a value of more than 1 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khoat - General Director of Southern Rubber Joint Stock Company (CASUMINA), the unit that supported more than 126.3 million VND to donate 100 health insurance cards, shared: “Health insurance is one of the important pillars of social security, especially for people in difficult circumstances. If they unfortunately get sick, sick or have accidents while working without health insurance, the risk of re-poverty will come to these people. Because of such important and humane significance, CASUMINA has accompanied the Trade Union organization, donating health insurance cards to those who are still in difficulty”.
Helping union members convert gasoline cars to electric cars
Binh Tan Technology Motorbike Taxi Union also helps union members borrow capital without interest to buy self-drive cars instead of just running for rent, thereby increasing income, and at the same time implementing the State's policy of green transformation.
Mr. Nguyen Huynh Phuong Tung, a member of the Binh Tan Technology Motorbike Taxi Union, recounted that he used to work as a hired motorbike taxi driver for a business. Because he did not have money to buy a motorbike, he had to use a business's motorbike to drive, so he enjoyed a low revenue rate, about 62 - 64%, not to mention that if he did not drive for the full time as prescribed and quit without legitimate reason, he would be fined 50,000 VND/day for revenue. This is also the common situation of many other union members.
Faced with that reality, Binh Tan Technology Motorbike Taxi Union has coordinated with CEP Microfinance Organization and a business to support union members to borrow capital in installments for 12 months, interest-free to buy their own motorbikes to drive motorbike taxis. Mr. Tung calculated that because it is his motorbike, the rate of enjoyment has increased to 80-82%, driving is more proactive, there is more rest time without worrying about being fined for revenue as before.
According to Mr. Le Tan Luu - Chairman of Binh Tan Technology Motorbike Taxi Union, currently many union members do not have their own cars, have to use business cars to drive, so they enjoy a low discount rate. In addition, many people are still using gasoline cars. Therefore, Binh Tan Technology Motorbike Taxi Union has coordinated to support union members to borrow capital on installment and interest-free to buy and exchange cars. In the first phase, 17 union members benefited from this policy.
