Complete the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project in Q4/2027

In the afternoon of August 21, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Thai Thu Xuong and Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union Do Duc Hung and the working delegation visited, encouraged, and presented gifts to union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers (CNVCLĐ) of units directly participating in construction on the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project (Tri An ward, Dong Nai city).

Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Thai Thu Xuong praised the enthusiastic labor spirit of union members and workers who have tried their best to perform assigned tasks, helping the project ensure progress; at the same time, requested that in the coming time, workers and laborers continue to strictly implement regulations on occupational safety and health, well comply with local regulations, and ensure construction progress.

At the construction site, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Thai Thu Xuong presented gifts to union members and workers and employees of units directly participating in construction on the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project, with a total amount of 156 million VND.

Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion is an important project to increase the ability to generate peak power for the national power system, effectively exploit the surplus water discharged annually during the flood season of the existing Tri An Hydropower Plant to generate electricity, and at the same time improve the ability to regulate frequency and stabilize the national power system frequency.

The project has an installed capacity of 200 MW, including 2 units, each unit 100 MW, with a total investment of 3,965 billion VND.

The project was started in 2025; it is expected to generate electricity from unit No. 1 in the third quarter of 2027, generate electricity from unit No. 2 in the fourth quarter of 2027 and complete the entire project in the fourth quarter of 2027.

Previously, on March 19, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) issued a Plan to launch a emulation movement to accelerate the construction progress of key projects in 2026, including: Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion (Dong Nai City), Bac Ai Hydropower Plant (Lam Dong province) and Quang Trach II LNG Power Plant (Quang Tri province).
