On the morning of August 19, in Tri An commune, Dong Nai province, a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of Tri An hydropower plant took place.

The ceremony was attended by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Ms. Phan Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.
Dong Nai province attended the ceremony with Mr. Vo Tan Duc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province.

The Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project is invested by Vietnam Electricity Group. The consortium consists of 6 contractors, headed by Lung Lo Construction Corporation.
The project has a total capital of about VND3,900 billion, expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
This is a national key project in the energy sector.
The expanded Tri An Hydropower Plant is built in Tri An commune, Dong Nai province.
The project consists of 2 generators, with a capacity of 200MW, an average annual electricity output of about 200 million kWh, connected to the 220kV power distribution station of the existing Tri An Hydropower Plant.

After completion, the project will not only supplement an important power source to the national power system to ensure power supply for the socio-economic development of the region in general, the double-digit growth target of Dong Nai province in particular, but also demonstrate the determination to implement the green and sustainable energy development strategy, in line with Vietnam's commitment at COP 26 on the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

Previously, on December 29, 2024, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) held a ceremony to launch the construction of Hieu Liem bridge under the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project.
Hieu Liem Bridge is an important item of the project, approved as a level II project with a length of 249.5 m and a width of 9 m. The bridge was built to serve the transportation of materials and equipment during the project construction process. After the project was completed, Hieu Liem Bridge was left to serve the travel needs of people in the area, helping to connect traffic and contributing to the socio-economic development of the area.
