At the Forum "Trade Union members studying and following Uncle Ho's ideology, ethics, and style to emulate good labor, high productivity, and good income" organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on May 19, Mr. Cao Van Long, trade union member, 5/7 grade worker, Trade Union of FECON Infrastructure Construction Joint Stock Company (Hanoi City Labor Federation) said: Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style is not something great or distant, but starts from daily work; from dedication and responsibility in each machine shift, each meter of road, each night of technical duty at the foot of the project.
As a repairman in the field of technical infrastructure, the more attached he is to his work, the more he understands that learning from Uncle Ho is to work more responsibly, more proactively, know how to save and always put the collective interest above personal interest.
Mr. Long said that in the period 2023 - 2025, the unit's collective has implemented the initiative: "Using mud pressing machines to reduce the volume of thin mud to be transported to serve Jet Grouting construction". This is not only a technical improvement, but also the result of the process of struggling and searching to improve construction efficiency, reduce costs, ensure labor safety and improve the working environment for workers.
When applied in practice, the initiative has significantly reduced fuel costs, shortened construction time, limited the spread of sludge into the environment, and improved safety conditions at the construction site. More importantly, the initiative has contributed to changing the working mindset of workers: no longer having the mentality of "fixing where it's broken", "returning after work", but proactively finding solutions, saving each material, each working hour, just as Uncle Ho once advised about practicing thrift and combating wastefulness.
For me, studying Uncle Ho sometimes starts with very simple questions: Can I do better? Can I save more for the collective? Can I help workers to be less vất vả? - Mr. Long said.
In his presentation, Mr. Long recounted a story. It was a night of heavy rain and storm a few years ago, when the construction site was constructing a drainage system, an excavator suddenly encountered a serious hydraulic incident. If it was not repaired before the next morning, the entire foundation pit could be flooded, causing road subsidence and affecting the lives of surrounding people.
In the rain and wind, Mr. Long wore a raincoat, wore a flashlight, and waded in water for many hours to repair the machine. At that time, Mr. Long thought that in a collective, each worker is an important link. If you are afraid of difficulties and hardships, neglecting work, it will not only affect the progress of the project, but also affect businesses, colleagues and the lives of people around. That thought helped Mr. Long try his best.
After that night, not only was the incident promptly resolved so that the project could continue to operate safely, but the working spirit of the young engineers in the construction site also changed a lot. Everyone was more proactive, more responsible and no longer afraid of difficulties and hardships.
In the most difficult times of his work, what helps Mr. Long maintain his spirit is not only his skills, but also his belief that honest labor is always valuable.
Mr. Cao Van Long emotionally said: "Uncle Ho always has special respect for workers. Uncle Ho's simplicity, dedication and spirit of overcoming difficulties remind me that: no matter how silent my work is, if it is done with responsibility and a pure heart, it is worthy of pride.
Mr. Long affirmed that studying and following Uncle Ho is not something too great. It is to work more dedicatedly every day; it is to save a little more for businesses; it is more responsible to colleagues and the community; it is not to surrender to difficulties; always try to make each day of our labor truly useful.
