According to a survey by TKV Trade Union, there are currently over 3,000 workers in companies and units of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (TKV) in Quang Ninh who have a need to buy social housing.
In which, in the former Ha Long City area alone, there are about nearly 1,000 people.
Faced with the great demand for stable housing, the Coal industry and Quang Ninh province are accelerating the development of social housing and worker housing projects to help workers settle down and be attached to businesses for a long time.
In addition to TKV's projects, the TKV Trade Union is also continuing to act as a bridge for workers to access social housing projects of outside businesses.
Among them, some workers and laborers have owned apartments at the Doi Ngan Hang residential area social housing project, Ha Lam ward, former Ha Long city. This is the first social housing project in Quang Ninh.
Currently, in the former Ha Long City alone, there are quite a few social housing projects that have been and are preparing to start construction, some of which have begun to receive house purchase registrations.
According to representatives of the TKV Trade Union, workers in TKV, especially miners far from home, want to buy social housing so that they can settle down, start a family, welcome wives and children from their hometowns, thereby being more long-term attached to the mining profession.
Currently, in the entire TKV, there are 22 units arranging collective housing for workers with a total of 4,814 rooms. Of which, there are 3,636 rooms for single workers and 1,133 rooms for households.

Not only investing in worker dormitories, the Coal industry and Quang Ninh province are also promoting the development of large-scale social housing to meet the increasing needs of workers.
In recent years, Quang Ninh has proactively reviewed and supplemented urban and industrial park planning; allocated land funds to develop social housing and worker dormitories; and at the same time reformed administrative procedures to create conditions for businesses to implement projects.
Recently, Quang Ninh province continued to approve more social housing projects in Cao Xanh and Ha Lam wards with a total scale of more than 1,100 apartments, contributing to realizing the goal of having about 25,000 houses for workers and low-income people by 2030 in the whole province.
In parallel with that, TKV continues to invest in more worker housing areas, especially for mining workers far from home.
According to the TKV Trade Union, in 2026, Thong Nhat Coal Company and Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company will deploy two new worker housing projects.
In which, Thong Nhat Coal Company plans to build an 11-story apartment building with 68 rooms; Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company builds a 12-story apartment building with 100 rooms for workers. These are additional projects to improve living conditions for workers, because currently these two units have many collective housing areas and apartments serving thousands of miners.
Previously, in 2025, TKV also started construction of two worker housing projects at Khe Cham Coal Company and Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company.
The collective housing project for workers of Khe Cham Coal Company in Mong Duong ward has a scale of 1 basement, 11 above-ground floors and 1 attic floor with 360 closed apartments, designed according to the model of 1 person/apartment, fully equipped with living amenities. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
Meanwhile, the underground worker collective housing project of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company in Ha Tu ward has a scale of 1 basement floor, 11 above-ground floors with 389 closed rooms, expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
The simultaneous implementation of social housing and worker housing projects not only helps improve living conditions for workers in the coal industry, but also contributes to retaining labor and ensuring stable human resources for Quang Ninh's key industry.
