Newly recruiting about 20,000 workers
According to Mr. Vo Tan Khai - Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Vinh Long province - the demand for labor recruitment at companies in the province in 2025 will reach about 20,000 people. However, in reality, the number of recruited workers is only about 1/3 of the plan.
Although the Industrial Park Trade Union has coordinated with the recruitment departments of companies, using online recruitment channels, especially social networks, the labor shortage has not improved.
"We have tried to announce recruitment through many means, but there is still a shortage of labor. In the coming time, we will coordinate with relevant units to organize job fairs so that workers can easily choose the right company," Mr. Khai shared.

Ms. Bui Thi Cam Tu - Director of Human Resources Administration Management of Bo Hsing Company Limited (Hoa Phu Industrial Park) - said that the company is in need of recruiting 500 more workers due to new orders. However, since Tet, the number of employees recruited at the company has only reached about 50 people.
"Although the company pays bonuses and insurance regimes in accordance with regulations, in addition, the company also supports food, gasoline and childcare for workers with young children, we still have difficulty attracting workers," Ms. Tu added.
Low wages have not attracted workers
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam - a worker in Binh Hoa Phuoc commune, Long Ho district - said that since Tet, he has applied for jobs at 3 companies in Hoa Phu Industrial Park. But the salary announced is only from 3.5 to 5.5 million VND/month, much lower than the salary his friend introduced in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Mr. Tam, companies in Ho Chi Minh City pay higher salaries, from 8 to over 10 million VND/month.Therefore, he decided to work in Ho Chi Minh City, where his income was higher.Although he really wants to work close to home, working in Vinh Long with a low salary is not enough to cover his living expenses.
"Old people here also have difficulty finding a job or can only apply for a job with a low salary.Everyone around me, especially the elderly, chooses to go to Ho Chi Minh City to work as a waitress, with a salary of 8 - 10 million VND/month," Mr. Tam shared.
Ms. My Lan - working at a garment company - said that although the salary in Vinh Long is lower than in Ho Chi Minh City, she still accepts to work close to home, conveniently taking care of her elderly parents."I don't want to be away from my family, but I hope that with a long working time, my income will improve," Ms. Lan shared.
Although the labor market in Vinh Long is facing many difficulties, businesses and authorities are still constantly trying to find solutions and measures to support labor, creating stable job opportunities for people.
