The National Defense Trade Union (NDTU) organizes many practical activities to care for union members and workers, thereby affirming and building the trust of the National Defense workers as well as commanders, officers and soldiers in the Union. How are these activities organized and implemented, Colonel?
- After more than 75 years of building, fighting and growing (1949-2024), the National Defense Trade Union has always been associated with the glorious revolutionary history of the Party, the nation and the heroic Vietnam People's Army. In each historical period, cadres, union members and workers have always preserved and promoted the noble qualities of "Worker Soldiers - Uncle Ho's Soldiers" and the nature and tradition of the Vietnamese working class, enthusiastically competing to overcome all difficulties and hardships, daring to think, daring to do, being creative, striving to master science and technology, contributing to creating the overall strength of the Army.
Based on the characteristics of the Army and its role, the National Defense Trade Union has organized many activities to care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members and employees in the spirit that this is a basic function and a continuous task of the National Defense Trade Union. In 2024, the National Defense Trade Union Board organized visits, presented gifts, and wished a happy New Year to 27 disadvantaged union members stationed in remote areas with a value of 10 million VND/union member; presented gifts to 700 union members in difficult circumstances with a value of 500,000 VND/gift; reviewed and supported 1,094 union members and employees with serious illnesses with a value of 1 million VND/gift, 5,102 union members in difficult family circumstances with a value of 500,000 VND/gift... The total amount is more than 4.3 billion VND.
Another activity that union members and workers in the entire army responded to was the program "Union Shelter - Comradeship". In 2024, the cost of building and repairing "Union Shelter - Comradeship" houses for 39 union members with difficult housing circumstances worth over 2.5 billion VND was supported. Of which, 26 new houses were built and 13 houses were repaired...
In order for the activities to care for union members and workers to be carried out directly by the Military Trade Union Board, the Military Trade Union Board also directs and guides the grassroots trade unions in the entire army to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement them. Therefore, in the units and trade union organizations, they always receive support, trust and are ready to respond to the activities of union members and workers.
The National Defense Trade Union has implemented very well the policies, instructions and directions of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in the period of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, storms and floods, taking care of Tet, and Workers' Month activities... so the activities of caring for and protecting union members, workers and non-union forces have been highly appreciated by the leaders and commanders of all military units as well as officers and soldiers, thereby supporting the Union and gaining more union members.
After a period of consultation with the Military Trade Union, the Creative Labor Award in the Military Trade Union has officially been established. Could you please tell us the significance of this Award?
- In 2024, the Military Trade Union Committee researched and proposed to develop a Circular on the Regulations for considering and awarding the Creative Labor Award in the Military Trade Union, which was signed and issued by the Minister of National Defense. This is an important legal document specifically for union members in the military who have annual works, topics, and initiatives in all areas of science, technology, culture, arts, education, training, medicine, and combat training participating in the Award and winning third prize or higher will receive a salary increase, promotion, military rank before the term or retain the term, and be given priority in recruiting defense civil servants and professional soldiers; and will be awarded one month's salary in cases where the military rank and salary level are at the ceiling. This is a very beneficial condition for union members and thereby attracts many officers and professional soldiers in all types of units to apply to join the union organization.
