Before holding the position of Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Soc Trang province, Mr. Ly Truong Khoa was a specialist of the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Federation of Labor (PFF). It was here that he began his career as a journalist, a job that required skills and a sense of responsibility, especially for those who had never received professional training.
He meticulously edited the first reports and edited them many times to ensure accurate content. Not only writing, Mr. Khoa also took photos with his phone. In 2019, the Propaganda Department was equipped with specialized cameras and he had the opportunity to participate in professional training courses organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. With more knowledge and equipment, he began to record stories about workers, from small initiatives, the lives of overcoming difficulties to the effective union model.
"For me, union officials working in newspapers do not need beauty but must be honest and sympathetic. Each news and article is a bridge between the union organization and union members and workers, between society and the voice of factories and workshops," Mr. Khoa shared.
Mr. Khoa informed that from 2015 to present, as a member of the Editorial Board of the Soc Trang Provincial Federation of Labor Electronic Information Page, he has produced about 1,000 articles and papers. The articles not only truly reflect the lives of workers but also spread effective initiative models, creating motivation for the emulation movement among workers, civil servants and laborers.
Not stopping at internal channels, Mr. Khoa also cooperated with many press agencies such as Lao Dong Newspaper, Lao Dong Newspaper, Soc Trang Newspaper, Lao Dong and Trade Union Magazine and information portals of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Soc Trang province. Thereby, the voices of trade unions and workers are widely reached by the public, contributing to creating consensus in society.
"When I submitted to collaborating with the Newspapers, I was enthusiastically supported by the editors in the way I wrote articles and took photos, thereby improving my skills," Mr. Khoa confided.
In parallel with writing for newspapers, Mr. Khoa also self-taught more skills in infographic design and video creation. "In 2022, during the period of quarantine for COVID-19 treatment at home, to guide and promote the Program "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic" launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, I completed a video in just one session of photo selection, reading the lyrics to filming the clip. Thereby strongly spreading to union members and workers", Mr. Khoa said.
Mr. Khoa said that to adapt to digital age communication, he has proactively advised on the construction of Zalo OA channels such as "Soc Trang Trade Union" and "Soc Trang Industrial Parks Trade Union". These platforms help bring information to workers quickly and effectively.
In addition, he also participated in operating the fanpage "Soc Trang Trade Union" with more than 8,700 followers, along with the Soc Trang Trade Union Youtube channel with hundreds of videos, news, and propaganda articles.
Not only working in a silent newspaper, Mr. Ly Truong Khoa also actively participated in competitions launched and organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Propaganda Department of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee. And has set many outstanding achievements such as the "Send of Trust, grant Expectations" Publication Award (2023), the Third Prize and the "Most Unique discovery" Award of the "Union Ring" contest (2021 - 2022) or the writing awards for "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style", contributing to spreading profound ideological values in union life.
