Preparing infrastructure for the project
The project to invest in the construction and business of infrastructure of Song Cong II Industrial Park, phase 2 (Song Cong II Industrial Park), was approved by the Prime Minister in the investment policy and investor approval in Decision No. 225/QD-TTg dated March 7, 2024. The operating period is 50 years from the date of approval.
Deployed on a land area of 296.24 hectares in Song Cong City, Thai Nguyen Province with a total investment of nearly 4,000 billion VND. The project includes two areas: area No. 1 with an area of 175.52ha in Tan Quang commune and part of Ba Xuyen commune; area No. 2 with an area of 120.72ha in Ba Xuyen commune and part of Tan Quang commune. The investor is Viglacera Thai Nguyen Joint Stock Company.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in mid-February 2025, at Zone 2 of Song Cong II Industrial Park project, the construction unit is focusing on equipment, mechanical machinery, and human resources to prepare for the groundbreaking work, expected to take place in the first quarter of 2025, with a implementation period of 36 months. After that, the new investor proceeded to make the site, deploy industrial items and other auxiliary items.
According to the project implementation progress report of the People's Committee of Song Cong City, as of February 2025, the project has approved a compensation, support and resettlement plan for an area of 73.71ha/120.72ha of 548 households and individuals, worth 216.1 billion VND.
Expanding job opportunities for workers
Mr. Dang Van Phuc, Na Chua hamlet, Ba Xuyen commune, Song Cong city, is one of the households whose land was reclaimed to serve the Song Cong II industrial park project. Mr. Phuc shared that his family has 2 hectares of rice fields that were reclaimed and has received compensation of about 5 billion VND. The above amount of money he plans to use to invest in livestock farming, ensuring a long-term livelihood.
"My people and I are looking forward to the early formation of this industrial park. Thereby, it will attract more diverse occupations, helping people have more options suitable to their skills and conditions, thereby stabilizing their lives as well as opening up opportunities for many other households in the area" - Mr. Phuc added.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a resident of the area, also said that when hearing about the newly implemented industrial park project, she and many other households were very supportive, because this means more businesses will invest and expand job opportunities.
According to Ms. Lan, if in the past, local workers mainly worked in agriculture or had to go to distant provinces to find jobs, now with the appearance of industrial parks, the younger generation can work right in their hometown, stabilize their lives and still be close to their families.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Duong Duc Hanh - Vice Chairman of Ba Xuyen Commune People's Committee - said that the Song Cong II Industrial Park project is currently in the preparation stage to start construction, expected to take place in early 2025. This is one of the key projects in the locality, with the expectation that when completed, it will greatly contribute to changing the appearance of the regional economy, creating and solving jobs for workers, thereby improving the lives of local people.
