Paid to study
For more than 2 years, every two months, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Thuong - Head of the Business Department of Binh Duong Power Company, under the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) - has spent two weeks attending a bachelor's degree in Law (Department 2) course organized by EVNSPC in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City University of Law. After school, Mr. Thuong returned to the company to join the unit to perform tasks and check work during the day.
Mr. Thuong said that he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering, but when taking on the position of Head of the Business Department, updating and supplementing knowledge of the law is very necessary to carry out tasks related to the signing and implementation of electricity purchase and sale contracts. Therefore, he registered and was admitted to study for a bachelor's degree in law by the company and EVNSPC. His entire study time is counted as working time, with salary, all training costs are paid by EVNSPC.
"I immediately applied the legal knowledge I had learned to solve my daily tasks. Having legal knowledge helps us solve problems more effectively and with peace of mind" - Mr. Thuong said.
Similarly, Mr. Dinh Hoang - Deputy Head of EVNSPC Communications Department - said that with the policy of encouraging employees in the corporation to study to improve their qualifications, he has registered for a level 3 management training course, with a training period of 15 days. He goes to school 3 sessions a week. During this time, the whole company will pay the salary and all tuition fees will be paid by the whole company.
Participating in the training course, we not only receive lectures on theory but also directly have a dialogue and exchange practical management experience with the leadership team of EVN and EVNSPC. In addition to theoretical study time, in each course, students are able to go on field trips to a high school unit to learn experience in management. This helps us quickly grasp knowledge to apply to work, while saving a lot of costs for studying and improving qualifications - Mr. Hoang shared.
Improving the effectiveness of emulation movements
Mr. Le Xuan Thai - Chairman of EVNSPC Trade Union - said that in the context of rapid changes in technology, science and technology, it will affect the jobs, lives and income of workers. To stabilize jobs, workers need to regularly improve their skills. Since then, EVNSPC Trade Union has regularly promoted and mobilized employees to actively participate in training and fostering programs organized by the corporation to improve their professional skills, qualifications, skills and abilities.
In 2024, although Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) reduced training costs by more than 50% compared to the registration plan, training at EVNSPC is still of interest to the leadership of the corporation and focuses on regularly organizing professional training courses for employees.
In 2024, nearly 70,000 employees of the corporation were trained through long-term and short-term programs, promotion training, and occupational safety and hygiene training. Training courses implemented in 2024 have helped employees improve their qualifications, skills, and abilities to meet the needs and tasks in the new period. At the same time, it has basically achieved the goals and requirements to improve the quality of human resources of the entire corporation.
Through training programs, it has contributed to improving the effectiveness of the emulation movement "Good workers - Creative workers" among employees of the entire corporation. In 2024 alone, EVNSPC's employees have had 126 grassroots initiatives, of which 5 initiatives were approved by EVN as group-level initiatives.
