The return wave
In previous years, the story of Nghe An youth "packing up" to Binh Duong, Dong Nai or Ho Chi Minh City to find jobs after leaving school was too familiar. However, the labor market is witnessing a spectacular reversal.
After graduating from high school, Ms. Nguyen Hong Anh (18 years old, residing in Hung Nguyen commune, Nghe An province) made a different choice compared to her peers. Instead of taking the university entrance exam or looking for jobs in industrial parks in the South, she joined an electronics business in VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park (Hung Nguyen commune). With a basic salary and overtime, Ms. Hong Anh earns more than 10 million VND per month. Not to mention, the business also arranges free dormitories and many other benefits.
“The above income level is ideal for an agricultural area like my hometown. Working in an area near home has many advantages such as saving costs, being close to family, and being able to regularly visit parents at home,” Ms. Hong Anh shared.
According to Mr. Hoang Anh Tien - Chairman of Hung Nguyen Commune People's Committee - the development of VSIP IP with the participation of many foreign investors with strong financial potential has changed the face of the Nghe An labor market. Not only retaining young workers in the province, this place is also starting to attract workers from other provinces and cities to return.
Choosing to work in their own homeland is a popular trend among local youth. This is directly proportional to the development of industrial parks in Nghe An province" - Mr. Tien emphasized.
Attraction from the Nghe An labor market
Statistics in Hung Nguyen commune show a fairly clear picture of labor migration. The total number of young people of working age in the commune is 10,342 people. Of which, the number of workers working locally is 8,425 people, while this number in other provinces and cities and labor export (mainly Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City) is 1,917 people.
Labor exports in recent years have tended to decrease, labor in the agricultural sector has decreased sharply every year due to structural changes. According to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, it is predicted that in the coming time, the trend of young people going to work outside the province will gradually decrease.
According to the People's Committee of Nghe An province, in 2025, Nghe An achieved an estimated GRDP growth rate of 8.44%, attracting FDI of more than 1 billion USD. In the period 2026 - 2030, the province sets a target of GRDP increasing by an average of 12% or more, export turnover reaching 9 billion USD. In which, human resource development and strengthening the link between businesses and workers are identified as key factors.
In 2026, businesses in the Economic Zone and industrial parks are expected to recruit about 90,000 workers. Job positions are concentrated in the fields of manufacturing, assembling electronic components, precision mechanics, garment, supporting industries... with improved income and preferential treatment compared to previous periods.
Mr. Bui Thanh An - Standing Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee - affirmed that he will continue to pay attention to developing social housing, worker housing and cultural, educational, and medical facilities around industrial parks, creating conditions for workers to feel secure and attached for a long time.
With positive signals from the market and the close attention of authorities at all levels, the dream of having a stable job and a decent income right in their hometown is gradually becoming a reality for tens of thousands of young workers in Nghe land.
