In the first 6 months of 2025, Hanoi Employment Service Center will organize 128 job fairs (110 daily fairs, 3 thematic fairs, 8 online fairs connecting with provinces and cities, 7 mobile fairs in districts, towns and cities) with 4,084 units and enterprises participating and nearly 40,000 workers participating in interviews.
In job fairs, young workers coming to find jobs account for a large proportion, about 60-70%.
A representative of the Hanoi Employment Service Center said that young workers coming to find jobs through job fairs are divided into 2 main groups: The unskilled labor group and the group that has completed training and has a certificate.
In particular, the unskilled labor force will face many difficulties when applying for a job because the demands of the labor market are getting higher. The group has been trained and has higher job opportunity certificates. The key point is that candidates need to harmonize their income requirements and expectations to have a common voice with employers.
Talking to Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Le Quang Trung - former Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Employment - said that currently, efforts to solve employment for young people and young workers face many difficulties.
Mr. Trung said that resources for programs and projects to support job creation for young people are currently limited; the rate of trained youth workers is higher than the national average but not significantly. In addition, a part of the youth have a weak sense of discipline and industrial style; many young workers lack soft skills and working skills.
"Unemployment of young people, especially the 15-24 age group, is a challenge for the Vietnamese economy. Compared to the world and the region, the unemployment rate in Vietnam is not a serious problem, but the high unemployment rate among young people also reflects that the connection between youth labor supply and demand is not really effective" said Mr. Trung.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of Hanoi Employment Service Center - said that digital transformation makes the labor market more complex, requiring technological skills and high adaptability. Accordingly, the professional structure is also shifting from simple labor to a high-level technical and professional industry.
"Therefore, workers, especially young workers, need to proactively equip themselves with soft skills, the ability to apply technology and the ability to adapt to the digital working environment. The goal of the labor market is not only to catch up with the trend, but also to be associated with the human resource development strategy, said Mr. Vu Quang Thanh.
According to the Statistics Office, in the second quarter of 2025, the whole country had about 1.35 million young people aged 15-24 who were unemployed and did not participate in studying and training (accounting for 10.1%).
