Not afraid of difficulties
Nguyen Ngoc Nam graduated from the university of media in 2023. In the past 2 years, this young worker has been freely working, sometimes taking on 3 jobs to earn income, accumulate work experience and satisfy his passion.
Since mid-2024, Nam has been a collaborator for a magazine specializing in foreign food; has been a collaborator for a wedding organization center and a promotional video production for a women's office fashion brand. For Nam, the job at the magazine is his "dream", the other two jobs are to earn an income to rent a house, nurturing his passion.
I was only given a part of the job in the magazine's image production, but I felt the strict requirements and professionalism when working with foreign partners. It is not easy for a young person like me to have this golden opportunity. I was accepted by a senior who had gone before me, after 2 months of challenge, I was accepted as a collaborator. For me, all the jobs I am doing are valuable, there are jobs for income, there are jobs that help perfect my skills..., Nam shared.
According to Nam, the 3 jobs currently bring in a total income of about 50 million VND/month.
Also a young worker who is not afraid of difficulties, Tran Duy Tuan is a good student majoring in Business Administration at a private university in Hanoi. Taken as a sales staff of an imported household brand, Tuan works while studying at a high school and working at the same time.
"I am not married yet, if I achieve the KPI given by the company, my total income will be about 30 million VND/month. I am determined to save money and study at a higher level to complete my degree and certificate. Parents see that I love my child for both studying and working, advising me not to be too stressed, but I see that my friends around me are trying very hard, the general requirements of employers for candidates are also getting more and more strict, if I don't strive, I will fall behind", Tuan shared.
Young workers need to perfect their skills
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong - former Director of the Institute of Social Labor Science (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs) said that low skills are the "barrier" for Vietnamese youth workers in the 4.0 job market. Lack of experience and having to compete with long-time workers; businesses increasingly require high degrees and certificates; lack of skills... are barriers that make it difficult for young workers to find a job in the current market...
Improving the skills of young workers, creating conditions for young Vietnamese workers to participate in the global human resource supply chain is an urgent requirement of the economy and this is a big challenge, requiring the Vietnamese vocational education system to change dramatically, Ms. Lan Huong commented.
In addition to improving skills, Ms. Huong noted that it is necessary to increase labor market forecasting, organize training, especially training in new industries, "addressing" labor market demand. This is also an important basis for implementation, contributing to the supply of human resources, especially young human resources for the labor market.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of Hanoi Employment Service Center said that to adapt to the current Hanoi labor market, workers, especially young workers, need to change and develop some more skills, including technical and technological skills.
Effective communication skills and teamwork skills are also very important to be able to work effectively in a diverse and cooperative working environment.
In particular, English has become an important factor in the global working environment. The ability to communicate and understand English will open up many job opportunities," said Mr. Thanh.
