The content of Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo is on "Innovating the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Unions in the new situation".
The workshop was co-chaired by Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Vu Anh Duc.
The workshop was attended by many former Party and State leaders, leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, local leaders, experts, scientists and trade union officials.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that the organization of the Workshop to collect comments on the 5-year preliminary review project of Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW takes place in the context of many new requirements, both from domestic practice and international commitments.
Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo was issued on June 12, 2021, but the process of building the resolution has been started since 2016.
At that time, before the requirement for Vietnam to participate in new-generation free trade agreements with many new commitments on labor and trade unions, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proactively researched and developed a project to advise the Politburo to issue a resolution.
The Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed that the Vietnam Trade Union has two roles. One is the socio-political organization of the working class and workers; two is the organization representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
This is the nature that has been formed since the birth of the Vietnam Trade Union and needs to be further affirmed in the new context," Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized.
The Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor expressed his wish that through the Workshop, many heartfelt and responsible opinions would be received to complete the project, contributing to building the Vietnam Trade Union organization to become increasingly strong, continuing to affirm its role as the largest socio-political organization representing the working class and workers. Thereby, gathering and mobilizing workers to successfully implement the tasks of national development in the new situation.
