According to reports from the grassroots Trade Union and Dong Tien Co., Ltd. (under Yen Binh Commune Trade Union, Lao Cai province), at about 2:30 PM on April 2nd at Km9 of IC15 route (belonging to Thao Chua Chai village, Mu Cang Chai commune, Lao Cai province), a serious labor accident occurred.
During the construction of leveling and reinforcing the embankment of Dong Tien Co., Ltd. (the construction unit of section Km7 – Km10), a positive taluy landslide occurred, and soil and rocks suddenly collapsed onto the working area.

When the incident was discovered, the workers quickly moved out of the dangerous area. However, 2 people did not have time to escape, including: Trade union member Luu Trung Quy (born in 1994), residing in Cau Thia ward, Lao Cai province, who is a technician at Dong Tien Co., Ltd. and worker Mua A Lu (born in 1986), residing in Nam Co commune, Lao Cai province.
After being taken out of the buried soil and rocks by functional forces and colleagues, the victims were transferred to the Mu Cang Chai Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment, but did not survive.
Immediately after the incident occurred, the delegation of the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation directly went to the scene and medical facilities to visit and share the loss with the families of the victims; and at the same time coordinated with local authorities, functional agencies and businesses to implement support measures to overcome the consequences.

Mr. Phan Huy Cuong, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation (Head of the delegation) requested Dong Tien Co., Ltd. and related units to urgently coordinate in investigating and clarifying the cause of the accident; fully implement regimes and policies for workers according to regulations; and at the same time strengthen measures to ensure labor safety and prevent risks during construction.
Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation also directed trade union levels to continue to monitor and grasp the situation, promptly support victims' families, contributing to stabilizing life and ensuring legitimate rights for workers.
