Stop working because you don't get a salary increase
According to the report of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, there was a recent collective work stoppage in the area at Vinh Han Precision Technology Co., Ltd. (Phuc Dien Industrial Park, in Mao Dien commune, Hai Phong). The company has 831 employees, with a salary for social insurance contributions of VND 4,795,000/person/month.
In June 2025, the company increased salaries for the technical department and some other departments, but did not increase salaries for the processing department. Meanwhile, the company organizes overtime of 4 hours/day. Upset because the current salary is too low that the company does not increase salaries, on the afternoon of July 8, 75 workers in the company's processing and production department wrote a resignation letter. Workers also do not work overtime and leave. On the same evening, night shift workers in these departments also made a recommendation to increase their salary and not work overtime, leaving before the end of the shift. On July 9, 180 workers stopped working and submitted their resignation letter.
Employees request the company to terminate labor contracts according to the provisions of law for employees who have submitted resignation applications, pay wages and leave for days not yet taken off in 2025, and close social insurance books for workers who have submitted resignation applications. For employees who continue to work, the company must increase their salary based on seniority, skills, and working skills.
Recently, at Sao Vang Company Limited, many workers have petitioned trade unions at all levels about implementing some allowance regimes at enterprises that are still low compared to enterprises in the same industry, leading to improved income and life of employees.
Timely dialogue to stabilize the labor situation
Before the incident at Vinh Han Precision Technology Company Limited, as soon as the information was received, the City Labor Federation sent staff to work, grasped the ideological situation, and at the same time reassured and encouraged workers. On July 11, the City Labor Federation established a working group with the company's Board of Directors, requiring the company to resolve the recommendations and proposals of employees and issue a public announcement before July 15.
Through working, the company's Board of Directors agreed with the two recommendations of the employees. The company does not make it difficult for workers to find new jobs when their labor contracts are terminated. At the same time, it will review working hours, salary scales and other regulations to ensure full compliance with labor law. By 12:00 on July 9, the number of workers who had stopped working had returned to work normally.
At Sao Vang Company Limited, in response to the recommendation of employees, on July 14, the working group of Hai Phong City Labor Federation had a meeting with business leaders and grassroots unions to resolve the recommendation, avoiding collective work stoppages.
Through discussion and negotiation, Golden Star Company Limited agreed to increase 5 allowances. Of which, the allowance for special needs was previously applied at 170,000 VND for cadres, 150,000 VND for workers, now increased to 270,000 VND for cadres, 250,000 VND for workers (an increase of 100,000 VND/month). The life allowance increased by 130,000 VND (from 170,000 VND to 300,000 VND). The shift meal allowance ranges from VND23,000 to VND25,000. Seniority allowance from 20,000 - 280,000 VND is now increased by 50,000 - 450,000 VND (average increase of 100,000 VND/person/month). The company also agreed to increase the lucky draw from VND 50,000 to VND 100,000/time, receiving 4 times/year. After adjustment, on average, employees are paid an additional 400,000 VND per month. The company also announced that the adjustment period and basic salary adjustment level will follow state regulations, expected to increase in January 2026.
The Hai Phong City Labor Federation requires businesses to publicize the contents of their commitments to employees. At the same time, the grassroots trade union continues to closely follow and grasp the concerns of employees to coordinate in resolving them in a timely manner. In addition, focus on periodic and ad hoc dialogue activities to resolve problems of employees, limit prolonged conflicts leading to work stoppages.
