Difficulty finding a job
Mr. Luong Manh Son is currently a technology driver, living in Long Bien ward (Hanoi).
Mr. Son said that he had finished high school before, then enlisted in the army for 2 years. After his discharge, his family did not have much money and he wanted to earn an immediate income, so he decided not to learn a trade but to register to drive a technology car.
"I have been driving a motorbike taxi for a while and have saved some money, but my income is not stable because the income depends on the number of buses I receive per day. I took the opportunity to find another more stable job but it was really difficult. I myself have only finished high school, I have no experience so I don't dare to demand, hope to find a job with a hard salary, no high experience required, just health. For the past half year, I have not found a job so I continue to drive a technology car, Mr. Son shared.
Not only unskilled workers, but also workers with degrees are having difficulty finding jobs.
Ms. Khanh Linh (Dan Phuong commune, Hanoi) graduated from university in June 2025. For the past 5 months, Ms. Linh has submitted her application for a job and has been working part-time.
Graduated in journalism, Ms. Linh was confident because she had a lot of experience in her studies and collaborating with many news agencies since she was a student. However, Ms. Linh's thought of "it will be easy to find a suitable job in the right major" when graduating was quickly extinguished. Currently, Ms. Linh is still working hard to submit job applications to many newsrooms, media departments of companies, corporations, etc.
After graduating, I spread about 30 documents to media companies and press agencies. I had the opportunity to participate in 10 interviews, but the results were not successful after discussing with the employer. In the last months of the year, many units cut down on collaborators, making it even more difficult for me, Ms. Linh shared.
According to Ms. Linh, in the last months of the year, companies are almost not recruiting new employees because they are worried about Tet bonuses, not to mention that employees will try to work until after Tet before changing jobs. She herself also considered doing things outside the industry such as sales, consulting with customers to "wait for the time" when businesses enter the next round of recruitment...
Increasingly difficult
According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, out of a total of 1,479 recruitment and enrollment targets at the newly organized job fair, the demand for unskilled labor only accounts for 14%.

Specifically, the labor recruitment target according to the requirements of qualifications, the demand for labor recruitment with college and university degrees or higher accounts for the highest rate: 751/1,479 targets, accounting for 50.8%; the demand for recruitment of workers with intermediate qualifications, technical workers 515/1,479 targets, accounting for 34.8%; the demand for unskilled labor recruitment: 213/1,479 targets, accounting for 14.4%.
In particular, if recruiting qualified and trained workers, businesses will also have many additional additional requirements and soft skills. Therefore, it is not necessary to keep a bachelor's degree in hand so that workers can be confident that they will easily have a job.
Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of Hanoi Employment Service Center commented that the rate of high school labor recruitment and new graduates in the job fair in the last months of the year was 14% - low compared to the same period many years ago.
According to Mr. Thanh, in fact, from the end of the third quarter to the beginning of the fourth quarter every year is the time for businesses to increase the recruitment of seasonal workers for the peak production season at the end of the year. Not to mention, jobs in the trade - service sector also recruit many workers for travel, festivals, Christmas, New Year's Day, etc.
"The transaction rate only has 14% opportunities for unskilled workers and new graduates, showing that job opportunities are increasingly difficult for unskilled, less experienced and professional workers," said Mr. Thanh.
