Currently working for a food company in Cau Giay ward (Hanoi) with a salary of 13 million VND/month, Ms. Nguyen Huong Lan (from Thanh Hoa) still cannot help but wonder about staying in the city to work or returning to her hometown to find a job according to her family's wishes.
Born in 1998, Ms. Lan is single. Graduated from university with a major in Business Administration, she works for a food company with a starting salary of 7 million VND/month. Thanks to her hard work and hard work, Ms. Lan is always in the group of sales leaders, receives salary increases every year and currently has a fairly good salary.
Currently, the cost of renting a room, eating and living costs nearly 10 million VND/month, Ms. Lan saves several million VND/month. After 5 years of working, Ms. Lan has saved nearly 100 million VND.
Although my income is not low, I have never been really assured and felt comfortable when renting a room in the city. Since graduating, I have moved residence 3 times. The feeling of renting, everything is temporary and still seeing an uncertain future makes me feel uneasy... - Ms. Lan said.

What makes Ms. Lan determined is that her parents continuously urged her to get married and worried that her daughter in the city would not have time to get to know and love her from morning to night. Not to mention, there are many companies and businesses in her hometown that are opening factories, so the job opportunities are also very bright... so her parents encouraged her to return to her hometown to work and start a family to soon stabilize her life.
Mr. Ha Duy Tung (from Ninh Binh) is currently renting a 75m2 apartment as a photo studio with 2 friends. Graduated from the Faculty of photography (Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema), for the past 4 years, Mr. Tung and his friend have earned a living from photography services.
According to Mr. Tung, the income from this job is unstable and seasonal. "During the wedding season, opening season or graduation season, the work is quite steady, our income can be up to 30-40 million VND/person/month. However, during the low months, we only hope to have enough money to rent a house, live and eat. Not to mention, for the photography industry, investing in equipment is very necessary. We reinvest as much as we have a high income, said Mr. Tung.
After 4 years of living in Hanoi, Mr. Tung has always cherished the idea of saving enough money to return to his hometown to open a photo service store. He is also confident that he can make a living from his job because his hometown is very developed in tourism.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong - former Director of the Institute of Social Labor Science - said that the feeling of uncertainty and insecurity of workers when starting a business in the city is quite common.
In addition to the burden of living expenses and expensive spending in the city, the fierce competition of the labor market is also one of the reasons why many young people are concerned when choosing to live in big cities.
Large cities have many opportunities for temporary jobs and income from work is also much higher than in rural areas. However, if you want to be more stable and less competitive, returning to your hometown is a suitable choice. Not only in private companies, but also in the countryside every year, many State agencies still have recruitment exams, opening up opportunities for everyone. Therefore, young people should not be too careful about choosing to return to their hometown or stay in the city, as long as that choice is suitable for their personal conditions" - Ms. Huong said.
