The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (now merged into the Ministry of Home Affairs) has issued Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH announcing the Lunar New Year holiday, National Day holiday, Victory Day holiday April 30 and International Labor Day May 1, 2025 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.
Accordingly, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations (civil servants and public employees) will have a holiday for the National Day 2025 from Saturday, August 30, 2025 to Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
This holiday includes 2 National Day holidays and 2 weekly days off.
Thus, in the 2025 National Day holiday schedule, civil servants, public employees and workers will have a total of 4 days off.
According to regulations, employees will be given a day off for holidays and Tet while their salary will remain unchanged. If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, workers will be given compensatory leave, depending on the working schedule of each enterprise.
In case employees have to work on the occasion of the National Day holiday, they are determined to work overtime on the holiday and receive a salary of at least 400% of their salary compared to normal days.
Article 98 of the 2019 Labor Code specifically stipulates as follows:
1. Overtime workers are paid according to the unit price of salary or actual salary paid for work they are doing as follows:
a) On normal days, at least 150%.
b) On weekly days off, at least 200%.
c) On holidays, Tet, and paid holidays, at least equal to 300%, not including salary for holidays, Tet, and paid holidays for employees receiving daily salary.
2. Employees working at night will be paid an additional 30% of their salary calculated according to the unit price of salary or actual salary paid for work on a normal working day.
Thus, when working on this September 2 holiday, employers must pay the salary equal to:
At least 300% holiday salary + 100% weekly salary = at least 400%
For example: Employee A in September 2025 has 25 standard jobs with a salary of 8,000,000 VND/month. Thus, the daily salary of employees in September 2025 is 320,000 VND/day.
If employee A works on the National Day holiday on September 2, he/she will receive an additional benefit of at least 320,000 x 300% = 960,000 VND/day
The total salary for the National Day holiday on September 2 and the salary for work on the National Day holiday on September 2 will be at least VND 1,260,000/day.
If employee A does not work on the National Day holiday on September 2, he will still receive VND320,000/day.
Note: The salary level of employees working on the National Day holiday on September 2 is only the minimum level. Workers need to pay attention to ensure their rights during the holidays according to regulations.
