On December 23, speaking with reporters, Mr. Do Duc Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union (VTC) - said that in the past time, the VTC has actively accompanied the Vietnam Electricity Group to care for union members and workers, proactively deploying response work to natural disasters and floods.
Trade unions at all levels have supported 204 Trade Union Shelters with an amount of 11.2 billion VND, presented more than 3,593 gifts to workers in difficult circumstances, suffering from serious illnesses, and having work-related accidents with an amount of 13.8 billion VND; visited over 250 collectives in remote areas, border areas, islands, newly separated units and key projects with an amount of 9.4 billion VND. Notably, the work of visiting and encouraging union members and workers to construct the 500kV line 3 project Quang Trach - Pho Noi in 2024 was carried out by trade unions at all levels. 129 delegations were organized to visit with an amount of over VND 22.088 billion.
In the activity of caring for the lives of workers, the "Union Shelter" program is always a deep humanitarian mark, spreading the spirit of sharing throughout the industry.
On December 5, the family of union member Phan Van Thang - Can Tho Electrical Experimental Repair Team, Electrical Experimental Repair Team under Power Transmission Company 4 officially received the affectionate Trade Union Shelter.
Mr. Phan Van Thang has worked for more than 10 years in the National Power Transmission Corporation; he is always enthusiastic, responsible and completes assigned tasks well. However, Mr. Thang's family still faces many difficulties - he is the main breadwinner of the family. Although his parents gave him residential land in 2023, Mr. Thang's family still did not have the conditions to build a solid house, and for many years they have had to live in a dilapidated house.
After grasping the situation of union members and surveying the reality, the Electricity Trade Union decided to allocate more than 100 million VND from the "Union Shelter" Fund to support Mr. Thang in building a solid place to live.
In the joy of receiving the new house, Mr. Phan Van Thang emotionally shared: I am truly grateful to the leaders of EVN Group and the Electricity Trade Union for caring to help my family in the most difficult times. This shelter is a great encouragement for me to continue to strive and strive to complete my tasks well. I promise to continuously strive and contribute to the development of the unit and the power transmission industry.
More than 320,000 union members participate in emulation movements
In addition to taking good care of members and employees, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also coordinates with professionals to organize many emulation movements for production and creative labor. The whole industry has had more than 320,000 members and employees participate in emulation movements, more than 1,500 collectives and 3,200 individuals have been commended and rewarded by trade unions at all levels. In 2023 alone, 12,931 initiatives were recorded, reaching 129.3% of the plan - exceeding 2,931 initiatives compared to the assigned target, 2,500 initiatives were applied, benefiting businesses over 1,200 billion VND/year...
It is known that on December 23-24, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will organize the 7th Congress, term 2025 - 2030 with the participation of 192 official delegates.
These are outstanding union officials and union members representing the will, aspirations and voices of over 98,000 members and employees from units throughout the Vietnam Electricity Group. With the motto of action: "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development", the Congress affirmed the core role of the Trade Union organization in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of members and employees; at the same time, promoting the intelligence, sense of responsibility, initiative, creativity and determination to comprehensively innovate the methods of operation to build a strong Vietnam Electricity Trade Union, meeting the development requirements of the Group in the next period, ready to enter a new era of the nation", said Mr. Do Duc Hung.
