Currently, the policy to support the elderly is implemented according to Decree No. 20/2021/ND-CP; amended and supplemented by Decree No. 76/2024/ND-CP.
From July 1, the Law on Social Insurance 2024 takes effect, adding social pension benefits for the elderly.
The Government has drafted a Decree detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Social Insurance 2024 on social pension benefits.
According to the draft, there are 2 groups of elderly people entitled to social pension benefits.
The first is the group of people aged 75 and over; not receiving monthly pension or social insurance benefits.
Second is the group of people aged 70 to under 75 who are poor or near-poor households; do not receive monthly pensions or social insurance benefits.
Thus, from July 1, there will be 2 groups of elderly people receiving social pension benefits and 2 groups receiving monthly social benefits with the benefit level:
Elderly people are poor households, without anyone with the obligation and right to provide care; or there is someone with the obligation and right to provide care but this person is receiving monthly social allowance; From the age of 60 to 80 years old, the allowance is 750,000 VND/month.
From the age of 80 and above, the allowance is 1,000,000 VND/month.
Elderly people aged 75 and over; not receiving monthly pension or social insurance allowance of VND 500,000/month.
Elderly people from 70 years old to under 75 years old are poor households, near-poor households; do not receive monthly pension or social insurance allowance, allowance of 500,000 VND/month.
Elderly people are poor households, have no one with the right to support them, do not have the conditions to live in the community, are eligible to receive social assistance facilities, but there are people who are supported and cared for in the community, with a subsidy of 1,500,000 VND/month.
