Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Thanh Hoa Urban and Environment Joint Stock Company said that the amount of waste stagnant and overflowing the roads has occurred in the past 3 days.
The reason is that people living near the Dong Nam landfill (in Dong Nam commune, Thanh Hoa city) reacted and did not agree to let garbage trucks enter the landfill, making it impossible to collect and gather garbage.
"We are currently coordinating with local authorities, Thanh Hoa City and functional forces to resolve the issue. The company is also working with a waste treatment plant in Nghi Son town to temporarily clear the amount of waste remaining in Thanh Hoa city informed a representative of Thanh Hoa Urban and Environment Joint Stock Company.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, in the morning of the same day, dozens of people were still gathering at the gate of the Southeast landfill to protest the introduction of too much garbage into the landfill, causing serious odor pollution.
"We have been concerned about the pollution in this landfill area for a long time. However, the matter has not been resolved, so households have gathered here to request the authorities to come up with measures to handle the above problem" - a resident said.
