The unemployment rate in urban areas will be 2.38%, down 0.17% compared to the same period. The rate of trained workers will be 68.7%, of which the rate of workers with degrees and certificates will be 28.1%.
Regarding wages, in 2024, public sector wages will increase by 30%; private sector wages will increase by more than 6%. This shows optimistic signals about the labor market. Employment is maintained stably, income has grown.
Vietnam is also considered an emerging destination for foreign businesses to invest, especially in the semiconductor industry. It is forecasted that the market share of semiconductor production, assembly, and use in Vietnam will account for 1% in 2022 and increase to about 8% in 2032. The increase in the semiconductor market share means an increase in the demand for recruitment and labor use.
Many industries related to information technology, transportation, warehousing; commercial services... are also expected to develop well, creating jobs for workers.
According to Mr. Le Van Thanh - Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the labor market and employment situation in 2024 has many advantages, demonstrated by the establishment of new enterprises, the increase in the number of jobs and the decrease in the unemployment rate.
The key task of the labor sector in 2025 is to develop circulars and decrees to guide when the draft Law on Employment is passed. In addition, it is necessary to continue to pay attention to and develop the labor market. “The growth target for 2025 is high, so production must be boosted and labor demand must be higher,” said Mr. Thanh.
Assessing the prospects of the labor market in 2025, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong - former Director of the Institute of Labor Science and Social Affairs (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs) commented that the labor market will improve due to economic development and increased investment capital from foreign enterprises. Accordingly, the demand for labor recruitment will also increase.
"In 2025, there will be many job opportunities, but in groups that require high technical expertise. Workers who want to have job opportunities must meet the needs of businesses, must have skills, have technical expertise... ", Ms. Huong said.
Mr. Le Quang Trung - former Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Employment (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs) stated that in 2024, the labor market had recovered and developed positively, basically meeting the demand for human resources.
