Leaving his hometown of Nghe An to Ho Chi Minh City to start a business at the age of 16, Mr. Vo Anh Tuan (43 years old) has been attached to the city for nearly 30 years. From a general laborer, he strives to learn to become a senior engineer at Jabil Vietnam Co., Ltd., working in a high-tech production environment with strict standards on quality and efficiency. After 18 years of attachment to the business, he has become a typical face of self-study and innovation.
Daily exposure to modern production lines, Mr. Tuan realizes that many machines have reached the end of their life cycle, but not all internal components have lost value. Concerned about the problem of optimizing costs while maintaining operating efficiency, the U50 engineer and colleagues deployed a "dismantling machine" solution, recalling good components for reuse when demand arises. To ensure absolute safety, he does not immediately put recalled components into the main production line but patiently tests them thoroughly on the offline system. Only when the operating capacity assessment results meet standards, the solution is applied in practice, helping businesses both reduce the cost of buying new materials and minimize the time machines have to stop operating.
Thanks to a methodical approach, from 2023 to 2026, Mr. Tuan has owned 11 initiatives with a total value that benefits businesses of more than 4.7 billion VND. Among them, the most typical is the solution to optimize spare parts to increase operational efficiency implemented in 2025, bringing a profit value of 1.571 billion VND per year. Not only excellently completing professional work, he also directly trained and tutored 86 young technicians, transferring experience as well as incident handling methods.
It is the substantive encouragement from grassroots trade unions and businesses through emulation movements that has become a launching pad for workers to continuously explore initiatives and constantly improve themselves," engineer Vo Anh Tuan shared.
Recently, Mr. Tuan was also one of 11 workers and engineers in Ho Chi Minh City honored with the 26th Ton Duc Thang Award for initiatives and technical improvements.
These are individuals with many initiatives and technical improvements, making practical contributions to improving productivity, quality and efficiency of production and business. The honored examples operate in many fields such as mechanical engineering - machine manufacturing, industrial electricity, refrigeration, electronics, information technology, chemistry, environment and other industries.
Each individual was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, a symbol and a bonus of 50 million VND. The total bonus value is 550 million VND.
