On the holidays of National Day September 2nd, the sound of machinery or the sound of work exchanges at the construction sites serving APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc are still lively and bustling.
Mr. Nguyen Dac Thao, technical supervisor at the APEC Conference Center, has been attached to the construction profession for more than 40 years. Looking at the items that are changing every day, the veteran engineer could not hide his emotion.
This is the largest and most complex project in my career. Witnessing the project changing day by day, I am very proud to see that Vietnamese people have been able to build world-class projects," said Mr. Nguyen Dac Thao.

And Mr. Le Hoang Minh, safety supervisor at the Multi-purpose Theater, said that he regularly moves through construction areas to check working conditions, observe and remind teams to comply with procedures. When the number of construction teams and workload increase, safety assurance requirements become stricter.
This holiday I chose to work at the construction site. I think it's a responsibility but also a heart, a way for young people to contribute and contribute to the country with their abilities," Mr. Minh shared.
Ms. Luong Thi Bich, a female worker working at the construction site of Terminal T2 of Phu Quoc International Airport, is also one of the workers who registered to stay at the construction site.
I miss my children but I have to work hard to save money for the future. Before, I was a livestock breeder, with unstable income. Later, my husband and I went to work in construction here, and the current job has a higher and more stable income," Ms. Bich confided.
Or Ms. Tran Thi Ruong, a sanitation worker at Bai Dat Do hotel complex, said that she collected excess materials, cleared the ground to hand over to the next construction teams. Her husband also works at the project and registered to work during the holiday.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Head of the Project Management Board of Bai Dat Do Hotel Complex, said that workers register to work during the September 2nd holiday on a voluntary basis, in accordance with the requirements of each location and construction plan.

Engineers and workers working on holidays are not only paid extra wages according to regulations but also arranged for compensatory leave to ensure health. Shifting is arranged in accordance with the nature of work, actual conditions and safety requirements at the construction site.
The project regularly arranges accommodation with about 3,000 accommodations, along with a health system and essential amenities for workers to stabilize their lives and feel secure working at the construction site," Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan added.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Hop, Managing Director of PPP projects in Phu Quoc of Sun Group, 6 projects serving APEC 2027 are simultaneously entering the peak construction phase. During this year's National Day, about 15,500 engineers and workers have registered to work during the holiday to maintain progress.
In addition to the regimes on salaries and leave time, the work of caring for spiritual life is also emphasized. On holidays, representatives of the project management board and leaders of units are assigned to go to each camp area, each construction site to visit workers. Those friendly meetings have added spirit to those who celebrate holidays away from home, helping them have more motivation to work "overcoming sun and winning rain".
