Improving the qualifications of workers
Currently, Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor manages 194,625 union members and 2,938 grassroots unions (CDCS), an increase of 18,330 union members compared to the beginning of 2024. The provincial trade union pays special attention to improving the qualifications of workers.
By the end of 2024, the rate of trained workers reached 70.1%, an increase of 3.7% compared to 2021. This result comes from a system of systematic vocational education including 6 universities, 10 colleges and 22 vocational training centers. Vinh University was chosen to build into a national key university.
Training institutions have cooperated with more than 320 businesses to organize practice, helping students access modern technology. In the 2021-2024 period, 298,775 people were trained from university to primary school, of which 38.5% were female. The labor structure is shifting positively, meeting the digital human resource needs of key industries.
The creative startup movement is being promoted with 145 training courses for 13,922 students and 84 startup clubs. These activities help equip soft skills, innovative thinking, creating a foundation for workers and laborers to participate in the technology startup ecosystem.
Ms. Tran Thi Nguyet - Vice President of the Trade Union of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone - said: "Currently, the Economic Zone has nearly 50,000 workers in 157 enterprises. The average income of workers is VND 8,198,000/month. The rate of trained workers in the economic zone is increasingly improved, many people have master's degrees, are good at foreign languages, and have high skills, holding management positions at enterprises. They are gradually absorbing and mastering modern technology".
Positive signals from the creative labor emulation movement
To date, the majority of Nghe An's FDI projects have been concentrated in the Southeast Economic Zone with 98 projects, accounting for more than 66% of the volume and 92% of the total investment capital, reaching 5.36 billion USD. In 2024, 16 more enterprises will be put into operation, bringing the total to 157 enterprises, with revenue reaching VND 77,219 billion (up 30%), exports of USD 1.8 billion (up 62%), imports of USD 2.13 billion (up 129%), contributing VND 2,208 billion to the budget.
Over the years, the movement "Good labor - Creative labor" has continued to spread. In 2024, Nghe An Provincial Trade Union cooperated with businesses to implement scientific works, such as the project "Nguyen Phuc Traditional Medicine Hospital" worth VND 400 billion, combining the application of intelligent medical technology. As a result, 38 individuals were awarded by the VGCL by creative labor, 2 individuals achieved the title of national emulation soldier. Earlier, in 2022, the program "1 million initiatives" attracted 21,725 proposals from Nghe An workers, reaching 700% of the target.
The operation of trade unions and workers and workers has made an important contribution to helping Nghe An GRDP in 2024 increased by 9.01%, ranked 13th nationwide. In the first quarter of 2025, the provincial economy increased by 8.00%, ranked second in the North Central and 27th in the country, higher than 6.91%in the same period in the same period in 2024. Industrial - construction sector continued to be a bright spot, of which industry increased by 11.07%, separate processing and manufacturing increased by 10.26%, continuing to play the role of main motivation.
Thanks to the priority of attracting businesses in the fields of electronic components, semiconductors, high technology and the stability of large enterprises such as Goertek micro Electronics Vina, Merry & Luxshare, the electronics manufacturing industry increased 1.74 times over the same period.
The construction industry also flourished, reaching an increase of 10.88% thanks to many FDI projects investing in factories and machinery, higher than the 7.36% of the first quarter of 2024. Total budget revenue in the first quarter of 2025 is estimated at VND6,850 billion, equal to 38.64% of the estimate and increasing by 8.39% over the same period. Social security is guaranteed, workers' lives are increasingly improved.
