Vocalologists need to practice many skills from voice, knowledge to expertise and soft skills.

According to Mr. Do Ngoc Son - Director of ST Lighthouse Soft Skills Academy, to pursue the profession of MC, program host or recording, professionals need to equip themselves with both professional competence and soft skills.

1. Train a standard, emotional voice

In addition, professionals need to practice regularly to control their voice, adjust their expression and convey emotions in accordance with the content.

A good voice needs to go hand in hand with a solid knowledge base. The host needs to proactively read, listen, watch and update information about many fields to broaden their understanding.

The knowledge base helps the host understand the content they are conveying, has more perspectives when building the introduction and is more convenient in the process of exchanging with guests and audiences.

Besides voice, professionals need to practice professional skills such as program hosting, expressions, appearance, body language and situation handling.

In particular, improvisation ability needs to be emphasized because the working process can generate unexpected situations. The host needs to maintain initiative and flexibility to suit each circumstance.

4. Focus on editing skills and working with audiences

In addition, the skills to work with customers, audiences and organizers also need to be emphasized. A suitable way of communicating will help the host create closeness and professionalism in work.
