These days, the story of Ms. Do Thi Quynh Giang - an officer of the Department of Legal Policy and Labor Relations, Yen Bai Provincial Labor Federation has moved many people and made them admire her strong will.
In 2019, Ms. Giang's life entered a difficult period. Her youngest son, Nguyen Vu, 11 years old, has leukemia and has been hospitalized for 5 years. Not only does she have to worry about Vu, she also has to worry about the education of her eldest son, Nguyen Viet Dung (15 years old).
Pain upon pain, a year ago, Ms. Giang received the news that her biological father passed away from cancer. Then just a few months later, she received the bad news that she had breast cancer.
The adversity did not stop there. After the chemotherapy, her body was still tired and had not yet recovered. Storm No. 3 hit Yen Bai City and destroyed the small home of the mother and her three children.
On September 17, we visited Ms. Giang’s house (Yen Ninh Ward, Yen Bai City), which used to be a peaceful place for her family, but is now a desolate ruin. The floor is only rotten wood, and the beds, tables, chairs, and shelves are scattered and covered in mud.
Looking at the scene of the devastated and ruined house, the woman choked up: "When the water rose, the house was destroyed by the flood, my three children and I had to stay at my grandmother's house, a few days later, this side was also heavily flooded. Currently, the whole family is staying at the Yen Bai Provincial Labor Federation Guest House."
After many days of receiving help from individuals, agencies, and organizations, Ms. Giang shared that she was very grateful and thankful for everyone's kindness.
"Thanks to everyone's help, my family has basically overcome the difficulties. Currently, there are many more unfortunate situations that need help. So I would like to give my sponsorship to those situations," the female union official shared when the charity organization contacted her for support.
