Nearly 20 years of persistence with the profession
Nearly two decades attached to the garbage collection profession, female worker Quach Thi My Linh (born in 1986, working at Vinh Long Public Works Joint Stock Company) is still diligently working in early morning shifts, contributing to preserving a green - clean - beautiful environment.
Previously, Ms. Linh was in charge of garbage collection in Vinh Long City area. After adjusting the management area, she is now assigned to work in many communes in Mang Thit district area (before the merger). Although the area has changed, the work has to move to many places, she still always tries to complete the assigned tasks well.
Nearly 20 years in the profession is also the same amount of time Ms. Linh has gone through many difficulties. On rainy and windy days, slippery roads, and a lot of garbage, the work becomes even harder. There were times when her children were young and the family was poor, but she still tried to arrange things to both take care of the family and ensure work.
Especially during the COVID-19 epidemic, the volume of domestic waste increased, many people are worried about the risk of infection. However, Ms. Linh and her colleagues still persistently stick to it, ensuring that garbage collection is not interrupted. "The work is hard, but doing it continuously is also familiar. Seeing the streets clean after collecting, I also feel happy," Ms. Linh shared.
Working in the same team as Ms. Linh for many years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham, a worker in the unit, said that Ms. Linh is a hardworking, responsible person and always completes her work well. "Ms. Linh works very diligently, whether it's sunny or rainy, she tries to complete the work. In the team, anyone who needs support, she is ready to help. Her working spirit makes many colleagues very admiring," Ms. Tham commented.
For Ms. Linh, the greatest joy is that after each working day, the roads and residential areas become cleaner. This has helped her have more motivation to continue to stick with the work that has followed her for nearly 20 years.
Recognizing silent contributions
Mr. Phan Thanh Hien - Deputy Director of Vinh Long Public Works Joint Stock Company - said that the company currently has 173 employees working in many different departments, in which the garbage collection force plays an important role in environmental sanitation work.
According to Mr. Hien, in the company's workforce, there are many individuals who have been attached to the profession for many years, always striving to complete assigned tasks well. Among them, Ms. Quach Thi My Linh is one of the typical workers, who has been attached to the garbage collection work for nearly 20 years.
During her work, Ms. Linh always complied well with the assignments of the unit, worked seriously and had a high sense of responsibility. For many consecutive years, she excellently completed her tasks and was commended and rewarded by the company. In particular, in 2025, she was awarded a certificate of merit by the Provincial People's Committee for her outstanding achievements in work from 2023 - 2024," Mr. Hien said.
Also according to Mr. Hien, environmental workers like Ms. Linh have made important contributions to preserving urban landscapes and improving the quality of living environment for people. Although the work is silent and rarely mentioned, it has practical significance for the community.
