Initiatives to streamline production and save time
According to Ms. Ngoc, there are two main types of products sold by IKO Thompson Co., Ltd.: rails and sliders, of which 11 stages of rail production must go through 16 visual inspections, 16 stages of slider production. Appearance must also be inspected 15 times. These visual inspections have repeated inspection items, with the same purpose of visual control before being shipped to customers.
Repeated items are scratches, rust, dents, dents, and printing marks. Repeated inspection of the same items at many stages leads to waste of time and human resources. Meanwhile, scratches, rust, and dents are product appearance errors that arise frequently during the production process and cannot be thoroughly handled (scratches, dents, and dents are errors caused by human manipulation; rust arising due to objective conditions such as weather, humidity...). "To both ensure product quality to customers and reduce inspection time, I came up with the idea of considering only checking at some necessary stages, avoiding duplication" - Ms. Ngoc said.
After a period of research and understanding, eliminating duplicate inspection items and simplifying inspection steps, Ms. Ngoc launched the initiative "Improving and reducing the time for visual inspection of products at each stage (Stage). 2)”. Accordingly, checking for rust and scratches will be eliminated, only retained in the inspection or final stages. Thanks to that, the rust category cuts 12/31 stages; Scratches, stampings, and dents are cut by 14/38 steps.
Received Certificate of Creative Labor 3 times
The initiative will be applied in actual production from May 2023. Thereby, contributing to reducing production time, the rate of rust errors does not increase significantly, and no rust complaints arise from customers. Economic efficiency from saving labor and time is estimated at more than 973 million VND/year. With this initiative, Ms. Ngoc was awarded the Certificate of Creative Labor by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
