At the meeting, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan shared information about the Vietnam Trade Union organization and assessed the overall coordination results between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and UNICEF Vietnam in the past time.
Vice Chairman of VGCL emphasized the work of gender equality, care and protection of children, especially children and children of workers and employees are very concerned and motivated by the Vietnamese Trade Union. Over the years, Vietnamese trade unions have organized many activities to protect, care and educate children such as: Actively participate in developing legal policies on children's work; Giving gifts to children and children of workers on the occasion of children's New Year (1.6), Mid -Autumn Festival; donate a pair of life buoys for children in the river; reward children with high academic achievements on the occasion of the new school year; support and visit the children with serious illnesses and disadvantaged circumstances; donating "Vietnamese Trade Union savings book" to the children and children of workers with parents dying due to Covid-19; support children affected by natural disasters, floods; organize summer camps for children to exchange on the occasion of summer; propaganda at trade unions on prevention and reduction of children's labor; Perform support for children with heart surgery, cleft palate ...

Over the past years, the VGCL has coordinated with UNICEF to organize many activities to attract the attention and participation of many workers and workers and are highly appreciated by the VGCL, in the work of caring and protecting children, especially children and employees and activities on child labor prevention and protection, improving skills for young workers.

On this occasion, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan congratulated Ms. Silvia Danailov on taking on the position of Chief Representative of UNICEF in Vietnam from August 2024, and expressed his confidence that with more than 25 years of experience in development and humanitarian activities and her professional capacity, Ms. Silvia Danailov will make positive contributions to the field of child protection, care and education in Vietnam.
Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposes a number of contents: The two sides will coordinate in implementing activities in 2025, including: Intensive training courses of the comprehensive development program for children to promote family-friendly practices at the workplace; supervise and evaluate training courses; consult to continue improving and enhancing specialized training courses.
In the long term, the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation and closely coordinate the implementation of activities on caring for and educating children of workers; promote and expand the program "Active Parenting for the Development of Young Children"; coordinate the implementation of activities on career orientation for young workers towards the goal of green growth and sustainable growth.
