The conference opened under the chairmanship of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Attending were representatives of the Central Party Building Committees.
According to the program, the Conference will discuss contents such as Report on the results of trade union work in 2024; Trade union work program in 2025 of the Executive Committee of the General Confederation of Labor; Proposal to issue the Project on "Supporting workers in industrial parks and export processing zones in child care and education for the period 2025 - 2028"; Proposal on ownership and management of shares (stocks) at trade union levels;
Report on the Project "Orientation of external information work of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation"; Summary of 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 4a/NQ-TLD dated June 24, 2014 of the Executive Committee of the General Confederation of Labor (term XI) on improving the effectiveness of grassroots trade unions to meet the requirements of the workers' movement and trade union activities in the new situation; Report on the results of union member development, establishment of grassroots trade unions in 2024 and deployment of tasks in 2025;
Draft Conclusion of the Executive Committee of the General Confederation of Labor on continuing to promote the implementation of tasks and solutions in Resolution 03/NQ-TLD dated January 11, 2019 of the Executive Committee of the 12th General Confederation of Labor on trade union cadre work in the new situation; Draft report summarizing 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 3a/NQ-TLD dated February 17, 2014 of the Executive Committee of the 11th General Confederation of Labor on "Improving the spiritual and cultural life of workers in industrial parks and export processing zones"...
In his opening speech, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized that 2024 is a year of special significance for the Vietnam Trade Union, the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, the year of celebrating the 95th anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam Trade Union, and the year the amended and supplemented Trade Union Law was passed by the National Assembly.
With the spirit of soon putting the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor into practice, immediately after the congress, the Presidium and the Executive Committee of the General Confederation of Labor promptly directed the development of Resolutions and programs to concretize and implement the Resolution, determining the theme of the Trade Union's work in 2024, which set out 11 key tasks and solutions and 12 targets to strive for.
At this meeting, regarding the Report on the results of the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in 2024, Chairman Nguyen Dinh Khang said that the plan to develop union members and establish grassroots unions in 2024 sets out to actually increase the number of union members by 1 million (equivalent to 26% of the target of the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor).
In many places, the trade union has proactively advised the Party committee, developed plans, strengthened the steering committee, working group, organized surveys and statistics as a basis for developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions, demonstrating great political determination, 32 units have achieved and exceeded the targets assigned by the General Confederation of Labor and have been commended and rewarded.
However, compared to the 2024 plan target, only about 2/3 has been achieved, and some actual increase units are still very low compared to the number assigned by the General Confederation.
Therefore, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed to discuss and exchange thoroughly, discuss specific solutions, and need to be aware and demonstrate greater political determination, with the motto of only discussing and doing, not retreating, to carry out this work well in 2025.
