Going abroad to increase income and accumulate experience
According to Ms. Dinh Thi Tra - Deputy Director of Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Home Affairs, in the first quarter of 2026, Quang Ngai selected and completed dossiers for 270 workers (including 23 workers in the former Kon Tum province) to work seasonally in Korea according to the memorandum of understanding on cooperation between Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee and Jinan District government, Jeonbuk province.
In 2025, the whole province had more than 1,000 people going to work abroad under contract, reaching 102.7% compared to the same period in 2024. Workers in the province mainly work in the Japanese and Korean markets... This reflects the trend of more and more Quang Ngai workers choosing international labor markets to increase income and accumulate experience.
The work of sending workers to work abroad brings many practical meanings to workers and their families. Not only having high income and accumulating capital after working time, workers are also exposed to and work in a modern industrial environment, professional processes, especially in fields such as manufacturing, mechanics, and high-tech agriculture in Japan and Korea.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Huy, village 6, Tra Bong commune, informed that after 6 years working in the agricultural sector in Korea, he returned to the country. Thanks to his accumulated money, he boldly invested in two excavators and two trucks to develop the economy in the locality. A stable job and good income helped his family's life quickly improve.
Going abroad is not just to make money, more importantly, to learn how to work scientifically, disciplined, and know how to apply technology to production. To have a high income, you must be hardworking and willing to work overtime" - Mr. Huy expressed.
Mr. Huy's story is not unique. Reality shows that many workers, after completing their contracts, have returned to their hometowns, becoming skilled workers with capital, contributing to local economic development.
Leading each other abroad
From the success stories of workers who have worked abroad, people are increasingly trusting and reassured about policies to send workers abroad. At the same time, functional agencies are also strengthening propaganda and warning about forms of fraud, guiding people to distinguish between reputable units and impersonation organizations.
“One of the biggest barriers when working abroad is language. Many young people in mountainous areas have good health, work hard but do not know foreign languages. We focus on coordinating to open Japanese, Korean, English, and Chinese classes right in the locality. Classes are organized flexibly in terms of time, suitable for people's daily lives” - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs Dinh Thi Tra shared.
To support workers with expenses to work abroad, the Department of Home Affairs has coordinated with social policy banks to implement preferential loan programs with low interest rates and flexible repayment terms. For poor, near-poor households and ethnic minorities, the province supports a part of the costs. Quang Ngai is also studying credit guarantee policies to create conditions for workers to easily access capital sources.
Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs Dinh Thi Tra shared that with synchronous, comprehensive and practical solutions, more and more workers have the opportunity to work abroad, improve their lives, and escape poverty sustainably. This is not only a task but also the responsibility of the sector.
