Strongly shift from supporting difficulties to proactive care
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Liem - Vice President of the Trade Union of Vietnam Television (under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology) said that the unit currently has nearly 5,000 trade union members, working in a special environment with many positions such as reporters, editors, technicians, cinematographers, MCs... Therefore, the Trade Union of Vietnam Television (Trade Union of the Station) determines that care work must be implemented in a comprehensive and timely direction, taking union members and workers as the center, strongly shifting from supporting difficulties to proactive care.
In addition to traditional activities such as visiting and subsidizing union members in difficult circumstances, supporting workers with dangerous diseases... from 2026, the Radio Trade Union organizes many health care programs through health consultation seminars, helping union members balance their physical and mental health after stressful working hours.
The Radio Trade Union also actively expanded welfare programs such as supporting union members to buy electric motorbikes with more than 1,000 vehicles being handed over; organizing resort programs, linking with health and service partners so that workers can access quality products and services at preferential prices.
The biggest difficulty in trade union work at Vietnam Television Station stems from the specific characteristics of the Station. Union members and workers regularly work in shifts, night shifts, working on holidays, Tet holidays; many departments bear great pressure on time, quality and accuracy of information. This requires trade union officials not only to take care of when union members encounter difficulties but also to proactively build programs to help workers regenerate health, balance life and have more motivation in work," Ms. Liem shared.
Fortunately, in addition to the attention, direction and creation of conditions by the Party Committee and leaders of the Station, along with the responsible and effective coordination of affiliated units, the Radio Trade Union also has a unique advantage of very rich human resources and expertise. The companionship of experienced professional units/committees in the fields of culture, art, sports... are important factors that help trade union activities not only be rich in content but also organized methodically and professionally, creating spillover effects and attracting a large number of union members to participate.
Unforgettable memories
Attached to trade union work, Ms. Liem shared that the memory that she remembers most is not major events, but very ordinary moments when she sees union members truly feeling the concern of the trade union organization.

“It was in the days leading up to Tet, when we jointly reviewed each case of union members suffering from serious illnesses, in difficult circumstances to support. There were brothers and sisters who, after receiving support, only said a very simple sentence: “I don't feel alone”. That sharing made us understand that the greatest value of the trade union is companionship. Then the Truong Sa working trips of Trade Union members of the Radio Station. Witnessing the national flag in the sea and sky, witnessing the life and resilience of the soldiers at the forefront of the waves and winds, each member of the delegation had very unforgettable emotions. We are even more deeply aware of the responsibility, dedication and value of the spirit of solidarity,” Ms. Liem said emotionally.
Ms. Liem added that in the context of digital transformation strongly impacting journalism and television, the Radio Trade Union determines that if it wants to accompany effectively, the trade union's activities must also be innovated. "We promote the application of technology in management, administration, and information transmission to union members through digital platforms, helping trade union activities to be faster, more convenient, and suitable for the characteristics of shift work," Ms. Liem said.
In propaganda work, the Radio Trade Union strongly innovated towards multi-platform, visual and highly interactive; many movement activities were digitized in the organization and communication stages. Online registration, real-time image updates and spreading activities on digital platforms have created great attraction, increasing the level of participation and union member cohesion.
