Caring for union members from practical needs
Mr. Hung said that along with 29 years of building and developing the school, the Trade Union of Lac Hong University (CĐĐHLH) has always promoted its role as an organization representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of more than 500 union members, including 240 female union members.
The work of caring for union members and workers is built by the Labor Confederation of Vietnam based on the actual needs of teachers and workers (NGNLĐ) and the development orientation of the school in each period to have appropriate activities.
The diverse series of activities built by the CĐĐHLH has created many useful playgrounds, contributing to fostering qualities, capacity, solidarity and professional bravery for the female NGNLĐ team. Some outstanding activities such as the "LHU RUN 2023" open running race attracting more than 1,000 athletes to participate; online running races; thematic seminar "Healthcare - Keeping the family fire"... The CĐĐHLH organizes annual periodic health check-ups for NGNLĐ with a regime of 1,350,000 VND/person (female NGNLĐ always higher than regulations)...
Before building a collective labor agreement (LCA), the Executive Committee of the CĐĐHLH proceeds to collect and collect opinions and proposals from union members and workers to choose the content of collective bargaining; focusing on including regulations on salaries, bonuses and other benefits policies for workers in the unit's CLC.
According to Mr. Hung, the biggest difficulty of CĐĐHLH currently is the requirement to innovate trade union activities in the context of very rapid digital transformation. The Trade Union must design many programs suitable for each target group, continuously innovate the content and methods of operation, strengthen the application of technology, and at the same time design practical and appropriate care programs.
Identifying digital transformation and AI as an inevitable requirement to improve the quality of higher education, the Trade Union of Hanoi Law University coordinates with the Board of Directors to implement many solutions to support union members to improve digital capacity. The highlight is training courses organized by the Trade Union in coordination with Google, guiding AI application in teaching, research and administrative work. After the course, union members are certified and have more motivation to apply AI in practice.
The great value of timely sharing
16 years of participating in trade union activities, what Mr. Hung remembers most is not the large-scale programs, attracting thousands of participants, but the very simple, sincere, and enthusiastic moments.
“That is when union members encounter difficulties due to illness or family upheavals, the trade union comes to visit and encourage, we feel the belief and cohesion that the Trade Union organization brings. Especially, for union members facing difficulties and hardships, union members receiving the House of Compassion... I understand that the greatest value of the trade union is timely sharing” - Mr. Hung emotionally shared.
Also according to Mr. Hung, CĐĐHLH has many programs for children of teachers and workers. Among them, typical are the "Good Learning - Good Living" commendation program, free summer classes or experiential activities for children.
As a dedicated trade union official, close to workers, Mr. Hung is even happier when the Labor Federation coordinates with the School Board of Directors to advise the School Council to consider increasing salaries for management staff in 2024 and increasing salaries for employees in 2025; expected to increase salaries for doctors and increase pre-lecture fees from January 2027.
In the 2025-2026 school year, CĐĐHLH has negotiated to increase from 400,000 VND to 500,000 VND to support union members and workers on New Year's Day, Victory Day April 30 - International Labor Day May 1, National Day September 2, Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20...
