Saving 14 working hours/month
The initiative "Making watchtowers to fix the edge of the steel strip when draining the output coil on the large S1 bang discharge machine" by Mr. Trinh Van Tuyen is due to inadequacies in the production process. According to Mr. Tuyen, in the past, when moving the S1 output coil groups for large and small goods, the operator used cushioning to fix the coil groups.
The use of step pads to fix the coil groups before moving the coil group out of the pass is limited. In particular, the time for requesting is long and depends on the feeling and experience of the operator, the results can be adjusted or must be adjusted. The operator must move into the clip area between the coil group and the output of the high-risk machine. Not to mention, the steel strip ends of the coil are often stuck in the output axis, leading to the core being scraped in the coil.
"Using soft begging to insert the coil group is not strong enough to keep the steel strip end when the coil moves out. Therefore, it is necessary to use harder materials to insert coil groups but must be light, easy to remove, easy to operate in passing" - Mr. Tuyen shared.
From that inadequacy, Mr. Tuyen came up with the idea of making semi-ferrous, light, and easy-to- remove steel trays to hold the steel strip end. Using a steering wheel helps save operating time, no more coil blades when moving the coil group, reduce operating time and processing time of 5 minutes/production order, save 14 hours per month, applied to 2 large ice release lines S1 and S3.

The solution helps save 840,000,000 VND/year by reducing operating time, eliminating technical errors and reducing labor costs. At the same time, it also contributes to ensuring jobs and increasing income for workers in the context of businesses suffering many global economic impacts, thereby reducing the burden of social security.
The solution has been tested since December 2023 and officially applied widely since January 2024 at the two production lines of factories No. 1 and No. 2. High replication capability, easy to apply in locations with similar structures.
Mr. Tuyen's initiative was also highly appreciated by the leadership of JFE Shoji Hai Phong Steel Company Limited, and was awarded in February 2025. Mr. Tuyen is also one of 3 individuals of the company awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Mr. Tuyen shared that although there are many initiatives contributing to the business, this is the first time his initiative has been honored with the Creative Labor Certificate - a noble title that every worker wishes to have. That is the motivation for him to constantly strive, improve knowledge and experience to create more initiatives to improve labor productivity and benefit businesses.
