On October 25, the Group and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union jointly organized the opening ceremony of the 10th Oil and Gas Industry Safety and Hygiene Competition in 2024.
The contest was attended by representatives of the Labor Federations of provinces and cities; representatives of some Central Trade Unions; 136 outstanding safety and hygiene workers from 20 affiliated grassroots Trade Unions, and more than 350 supporters who are union members and workers in the Oil and Gas industry.
According to the Organizing Committee, the contest is held every two years, thereby contributing to raising awareness, methods and safety skills for workers in the oil and gas industry; at the same time, arousing a widespread mass movement, mobilizing workers to actively participate, contributing to building a strong and sustainable safety culture in the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Mr. Le Xuan Huyen - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, Head of the Contest Organizing Committee - emphasized that ensuring safety for the Oil and Gas industry is vital, because if risks occur, they will cause huge damage. An incident can wipe out a project worth several billion USD; there will be no opportunity to learn from experience. Therefore, ensuring safety in the entire Oil and Gas industry is extremely important.
Therefore, to ensure the highest safety, not only investing in equipment, the Oil and Gas Group also invests in people through many propaganda and mobilization programs on occupational safety and health that are regularly organized; thoroughly understanding occupational safety for more than 60,000 oil and gas workers.
Right after the opening ceremony, the teams enthusiastically entered the competition: introducing the unit; theoretical competition and practical competition (baseline fire prevention and fighting or specialized fire prevention and fighting, first aid for victims).
The entries were exciting and impressive with content revolving around the regime, policies, laws, labor protection; knowledge of occupational safety and health; skills to handle actual incidents at the facility; activities of the safety and hygiene network and first aid and on-site fire fighting methods.
According to the plan, the program will take place on October 25 and 26, thereby discovering, training, praising and rewarding excellent safety and hygiene students and groups with excellent results in the competition.
