According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, from a survey and collection of information on 5,240 unemployment benefit applications in August 2025, it shows that female workers continue to be the group with a higher risk of unemployment than men. Specifically, over 60% of unemployment benefit applications are female compared to about 40% for male workers.
Compared to July 2025, the number of people with decisions to receive unemployment benefits in August decreased by about 41%, from 8,893 to 5,240 records.
The group of female workers aged 25 - 40 and over 40 still accounts for the majority of workers applying for unemployment benefits. The 25 - 40 age group accounted for 64.77%, up 4.77% compared to the previous month, the group with the highest rate. The over40 age group accounted for 28% (a slight increase compared to 24% in July), showing that unemployment in the middle age group had little fluctuation.
Also in August 2025, the Hanoi Employment Service Center received 6,811 applications for unemployment insurance (a decrease of 262 cases compared to the previous month). The Department of Home Affairs issued a decision to receive unemployment benefits for 5,240 cases.
The decrease in unemployment insurance claims shows that workers are more cautious about changing jobs in the remaining period of 2025, said Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center.
