Salary increase, additional benefits to retain workers at the beginning of 2026

HƯƠNG NHA |

After the Tet holiday, many businesses proactively increase salaries and bonuses, and provide additional benefits to attract and retain workers to return to work.

According to the report assessing the Tet Nguyen Dan Binh Ngo 2026 situation and deploying key tasks after Tet of the Ministry of Home Affairs, businesses have paid Tet bonuses to employees according to plan.

The average bonus level reached 8.69 million VND/person, an increase of 13% compared to Tet 2025 (which was then 7.72 million VND/person).

Regarding the labor market during Tet, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that labor relations are maintained stably, without fluctuations. Businesses have proactively planned to attract workers to return to work to maintain stable production and business in the first months of the year.

Many units have organized buses to pick up workers returning to their hometowns for Tet to return to work; giving lucky money, drawing prizes, and spring trips at the beginning of the year.

In addition, businesses also have a special enthusiastic bonus regime when employees go to work according to the schedule or the first day according to the schedule when employees go to work will be calculated salary like Tet; additional incentive bonuses if employees go to work full time in February.

On the other hand, some units also adjusted income, improved the quality of lunch meals, supported additional rent; announced training roadmaps and promotion opportunities in the first quarter.

The Ministry of Home Affairs believes that labor shortages after Tet are a cyclical phenomenon. To overcome this situation, this agency has proactively monitored and grasped the labor situation before and after the 2026 Lunar New Year, the situation of businesses, agencies, and organizations working throughout Tet in localities.

The Ministry also directed localities to strengthen the organization of labor supply and demand connections to ensure no labor shortage for production and business activities in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year.

At the same time, the Ministry of Home Affairs has actively monitored and supported localities in arranging and reorganizing job service centers; the issuance, re-issuance, extension, and revocation of job service operating licenses of job service businesses; monitoring and summarizing the operating results of job service organizations.

The Ministry urges localities and businesses to well implement policies on salaries and bonuses for employees at enterprises, especially industrial parks and export processing zones.

Therefore, it is forecasted that in industrial parks and export processing zones in localities such as: Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai... workers returning to work after the Tet holiday, localities will achieve a rate of 85% from February 23 to February 25 and reach 95% in the last week of February 2026.

The situation of job-hopping is forecast to be not much because businesses have paid attention to their policies to attract and support workers from before Tet" - the Ministry of Home Affairs assessed.
