Caring for railway workers over 27.86 billion VND
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) in coordination with Vietnam Railways Corporation presented gifts to 331 female workers directly working on the Saigon railway area on the morning of March 13.
Attending the program were Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Thai Thu Xuong; Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Do Hong Van; General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation Hoang Gia Khanh.
Mr. Ha Trong Thang - Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union - said that Vietnam Railways Corporation currently has 23,495 workers, women are 6,047 people (25.7%), of which direct female workers are 5,0042 people.
During the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, leaders of Vietnam Railways Corporation, Vietnam Railway Trade Union visited and wished Tet to nearly 6,000 workers working to serve train operations on New Year's Eve, subsidized nearly 2,560 workers in difficult circumstances; the total amount spent on activities to care for workers of the entire railway industry is more than 27.86 billion VND.

On this occasion, Vietnam Railways Corporation praised and rewarded collectives and individuals who participated in overcoming the incident of a barge crashing into the Cau Ghenh beam (Dong Nai province), disrupting the transportation of the North-South railway line, affecting the train schedule, and the railway industry had to implement a passenger transfer plan between Di An and Bien Hoa stations.
Continue to innovate operating methods, effectively organize emulation movements
Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong praised the contributions of the collective of workers, including female workers directly working in the Railway industry, to the socio-economic development of the country and the collectives and individuals who actively participated in overcoming the incident of a barge ramming into the Ghenh Bridge girder, causing disruption to the operation of the Railway industry.
Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong emphasized that 2026 is the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress and the year of organizing the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress.
Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong requested the collective labor of the Railway industry, including direct female workers, to continue to promote labor achievements, actively contribute to the sustainable development of the railway industry in particular, and the socio-economic of the country in general.
The Vietnam Railway Trade Union must continue to innovate its operating methods to gather, attract and care for workers; effectively organize emulation movements "good labor, creative labor", emulation movements "good at state affairs, good at housework", movements "green, clean, and beautiful labor safety and hygiene"... associated with the task of ensuring train safety, improving service quality and business production efficiency, focusing on discovering, fostering and replicating advanced examples and technical innovation initiatives.
Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh - General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation - informed about some activities of the railway industry in 2026 and the coming years, in which Vietnam Railways Corporation will transform into Vietnam Railways Group to perform important tasks in the coming period.

Mr. Khanh also said that he will ensure jobs and increase income for workers in the industry and requested the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, the collective of workers, and direct female workers of the Railway industry to continue to strive to work and strive to complete tasks in the coming period.
A report from Vietnam Railways Corporation said that the incident of a barge crashing into the Cau Ghenh beam on March 6th has affected the operation of the railway industry. Accordingly, in passenger transport, train delays are 3-416 minutes, and 2 united passenger trains and 6 sectional passenger trains are canceled daily, averaging 1,500 tickets/day.
Regarding freight transport: train delays of 41.359 minutes, abolishing 6 specialized trains/day, 2 regional freight trains; disbanding along the road 6 specialized freight trains, 2 regional freight trains, estimated to reduce 3,000 tons of goods per day.
Vietnam Railways Corporation has mobilized more than 200 officials, engineers, workers and machinery and equipment to implement the repair plan, putting the railway line back into operation after 5 days.
