The joy of a female worker raising 5 children alone
Ms. Nguyen Thi Su - a worker at Domex Company Limited (headquartered in Thang Binh District, Quang Nam) - faces numerous difficulties when Tet comes. Her husband has been separated for several years, she is raising 5 children by herself, the youngest is only 5 years old, the oldest is in college. The meager salary of a worker is not enough to cover the family's living expenses, especially during the holidays, when everything is more expensive.
“My family is poor so I can’t buy many household items. A few days ago, my father was hospitalized again, so I had to go to the hospital to take care of him, and I couldn’t think about Tet anymore,” Ms. Su sadly shared.
When she received the notice about the program "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan An Dang" 2025 organized by the Labor Federation of Quang Nam province, Ms. Su and hundreds of workers gathered early at the hall of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province to receive support gifts from the program.
In addition to the money and gifts, Ms. Su was also lucky to win the first prize of a washing machine worth 5 million VND in a lucky draw. “Receiving this washing machine is like a dream come true. From now on, my children and I no longer have to wash clothes by hand early in the morning and late at night,” Ms. Su said happily.
Mr. Phan Xuan Quang - Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial Federation of Labor - said that at the program, the Organizing Committee awarded 550 gifts, with a total cost of nearly 600 million VND. At the same time, 22 "Union Shelters" were also supported by the union for workers, civil servants, and laborers in difficult circumstances, with a total value of more than 1.1 billion VND.
Sharing Tet
Not only Ms. Su, many other workers also found joy in receiving timely support from the Union near Tet.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, working at Anh Duong Kindergarten (Tam Hoa commune, Nui Thanh district) shared that her husband is a worker but has had to stop working for nearly 2 years due to a serious illness, making family life even more difficult.
“With a low income and facing difficult circumstances, I was very happy when I heard that I would receive support gifts from the Union. With this money and gifts, along with the support from the locality, my children can have a warm Tet holiday,” Ms. Yen confided.
Mr. Cao Thanh Vu, a worker at Germton Company - Dong Que Son Industrial Park - was touched by the timely and meaningful sharing of the Trade Union. He said: "We are very happy that the authorities and the Trade Union always encourage and create conditions for our workers to overcome difficulties and improve their lives."
According to the leader of the Quang Nam Provincial Federation of Labor, on the occasion of the 2025 Lunar New Year, all levels of labor unions in the province organized 22 welfare programs with a total budget of more than 6 billion VND, ensuring that "All workers have Tet."
The unit also implemented the program "Trade Union Tet Market 2025" online through the e-commerce trading floor of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, thereby helping 2,570 union members, disadvantaged workers, and union members with outstanding achievements in labor production and union activities in the province to receive free shopping vouchers, with a total amount of nearly 1.3 billion VND.
“This is not only material support but also a spiritual gift from the Trade Union and the community, encouraging workers to overcome difficulties. The highlight of this year's Tet care activities is that we focus on the grassroots, with the wish that all workers have a warm Tet, reunited with their families" - Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial Federation of Labor said.
