From closed apartment buildings, libraries, sports fields to community living spaces, many units of the Coal industry in Quang Ninh are investing heavily in cultural and welfare facilities to improve spiritual life and keep workers attached to the mining industry for a long time.

Model collective housing in the middle of the mining street

With the specific nature of shift work, many coal industry workers in Quang Ninh have to work far from their families. Therefore, taking care of accommodation, living space, entertainment, and sports after work hours is identified by many businesses as an important part of the policy of stabilizing and retaining labor.

At Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin, the 314 collective housing area for workers is a model in taking care of workers' lives at TKV.

The apartment complex is located in the middle of Vang Danh mine street, with 218 rooms, each room is arranged for 2-4 people, equipped with beds, cabinets, air conditioners, water heaters, refrigerators, washing machines, internet and many essential items.

In the dormitory area, there is also a dining hall, four-season swimming pool, free karaoke room, billiards, table tennis, functional rehabilitation massage area, mini football field and outdoor sports training area. The dormitory area also arranges 4 family accommodation rooms, serving workers far from home when relatives come to visit during short holidays.

Mr. Nguyen Van Vu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin - said that most of the workers in the collective area are migrant workers, coming from many different regions. Therefore, the company has built cultural and sports clubs suitable to the needs and preferences of workers.

Especially on major holidays of the country, the corporation and companies, businesses support funding or arrange vehicles to pick up workers' relatives to participate in activities in the collective area. The company's Trade Union also implements the program "Civilized - clean and beautiful mine worker housing", supporting necessities, living equipment and organizing periodic birthdays for workers.

Mineworker communication education

At Cua Ong Coal Selection Company - TKV, cultural and sports facilities are clearly shown from the company's investment in building projects such as stadiums, cultural houses, gymnasiums, libraries, tennis courts, badminton, table tennis for many years.

Mr. Do Van Tang - Chairman of the Company's Trade Union - said that from the early 2000s, the enterprise renovated and put into use Cua Ong stadium with a capacity of over 5,000 seats, along with a system of works serving culture and sports for workers. The company's cultural house has a capacity of over 500 seats, regularly organizing cultural activities, festivals, and collective activities. The unit maintains reading culture through a library with more than 3,600 books.

A unique feature at Cua Ong Coal Selection is the connection of cultural institutions with traditional mining education. Currently, the company is managing the historical relic complex "Pooc Tich No. 1 Bridge - Anti-aircraft artillery battlefield - Command bunker" - a symbol of the struggle movement of miners in the mine area and the period of protecting coal production during the anti-American war.

Through visiting and learning about history at the relic complex, officials and employees have more pride in the tradition of the working class in the mining area" - Mr. Tang said.
