In 2024, the People's Committee of Dong Anh District (Hanoi) will inaugurate the district's multi-purpose gymnasium with a capacity of about 2,500 seats and a total floor area of nearly 13,000 square meters. As soon as it is established, the Dong Anh District Multi-purpose Gymnasium is considered the place to organize national-level sports tournaments, including volleyball.
The Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Volleyball Federation chose this place to host the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship.
A representative of the Department of Sports for All (under the Department of Sports and Physical Training) said that many localities and facilities have built and operated multi-purpose gymnasiums across the country, effectively promoting the physical training model so that people have a place to play and practice more than just one sport. Table tennis, volleyball, badminton, pickleball... are being chosen by people to play and exercise.
Not only in Hanoi, many localities are proactively seeking resources to build grassroots cultural and sports institutions. For example, Nghe An focuses on mobilizing resources from society - in addition to the state budget, to complete a synchronous and modern cultural and sports institution. A typical model is located in Phan village - a residential area merged from the old hamlets 8 and 9 in Hung Tan commune, Hung Nguyen district). Since 2022, Phan village's cultural house and sports area have been put into operation, serving sports movements, meetings, and activities of mass art clubs, especially the Nghe Tinh folk song and Giam club of Phan village.
Mr. Phan Dang Minh - Vice Chairman of Hung Tan Commune People's Committee - said that the project has a total value of about 2.6 billion VND, implemented on the basis of "State and people working together". The success of the project is the result of joint efforts from all levels, sectors and all people in the commune; bringing many practical benefits.
Right direction
The planning of the network of cultural and sports facilities for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045, was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 991/QD-TTg dated September 16, 2024. This can be seen as a lever, creating motivation to implement policies, guidelines and policies for cultural and sports development in the new period. According to statistics from the Department of Grassroots Culture, by the end of September 2024, 42 provinces and cities had planned land funds for the construction of cultural and sports facilities. There were 66 provincial-level cultural facilities; 689/705 districts had Cultural - Sports Centers or Cultural Houses, reaching a rate of about 97.7%; 8,207/10,598 communes, wards and towns had Cultural - Sports Centers, reaching a rate of 77.4%; 69,070/90,508 villages, hamlets, and villages have Cultural Houses, reaching a rate of about 76.3%...
The whole country has nearly 600 facilities that meet national and international sports competition standards; 371 stadiums with grandstands...
Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee - said that the province has implemented many specific mechanisms and policies to support the development of grassroots cultural life and remove difficulties in implementing the Movement "All people unite to build cultural life". The province has issued a special policy for the period 2021 - 2025 on land planning management for cultural and sports facilities, especially in post-merger villages. Each typical cultural model is awarded 20 million VND, currently more than 200 models have been recognized.
