On the afternoon of September 9, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) held a conference to evaluate and grasp the implementation of the online contest "Workers, civil servants, and laborers learn about the Trade Union Law and the Social Insurance Law 2024" and the Vietnam Workers' Football Tournament 2025.
The conference was held directly and online, connecting with units and localities. Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - chaired.
As of September 8, 51 units participated in the online contest "Workers, civil servants, and laborers learn about the Trade Union Law and the Social Insurance Law in 2024" (including 17 Industry Trade Unions and 34 Provincial and Municipal Labor Federations). After 21 days of implementation, there were more than 92,000 participants (sector trade unions: more than 23,000 people; Provincial and municipal labor federations: More than 69,000 people).
5 provincial and municipal Labor Federations with the largest number of participants include: Thanh Hoa: 12,083, Nghe An: 7,074, Dong Thap: 5,753, Lao Cai: 3,634, Bac Ninh: 3,253. However, some provincial and municipal Labor Federations and industry unions still have a small number of participants; some units have a large number of union members and workers but the number of participants is still modest.
According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the contest attracted widespread attention from workers, civil servants, and laborers; some units had a vibrant contest movement (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Dong Thap Labor Federations; Textile, Health, and Railway Trade Unions).
However, there are some limitations such as: Supported chatbot tools have been provided but many people have not used them, leading to a low overall correctness rate (about 12%); the quality of the essay is not high, many cases are sketchy, lacking content; the total number of participants up to now is still low compared to the total number of union members, civil servants, and workers nationwide; the number of participants tends to increase slowly in recent times.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - emphasized that online competitions and football tournaments are important activities. For the contest, there are many units that do well and have a large number of participants, however, some units have a small number of participants.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that the contest is a practical activity, helping union members and workers raise their awareness of the law, giaigate practical situations, and protect their own rights. Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu suggested that union officials need to strive to overcome difficulties, fulfill the responsibilities of union officials, consider the goal of caring for workers as the greatest and the highest to have more motivation to complete their tasks.
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor praised the units with a large number of participants; at the same time, he suggested that the leaders of the units give more close and specific instructions on the competition to attract more union members and workers to participate in the competition, improving the quality of the competition.
In addition, localities and units continue to deploy and disseminate content, rules, and questions to employers, affiliated grassroots unions, and encourage union members and workers to actively participate in the contest, especially localities and units with low participants.
