Workers look forward to Tet bonuses
Tet bonus is the income that many workers and laborers in Hai Duong province look forward to in order to have a more fulfilling Tet. Having worked at Sumidenso Co., Ltd. (located in Dai An Industrial Park, Hai Duong City) for more than 10 years, Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tuyen is excited when talking about Tet bonus. Although she did not share the specific amount of Tet bonus she received every year, according to Ms. Tuyen, every year she has a surplus to shop for Tet and send her children to school.
“Our Tet bonus is different every year. Since I started working at the company, my Tet bonus will be higher each year. Usually, I only know how much I get when I receive the money. At this time, not only me but many other workers are also waiting for the company to announce the Tet bonus,” said Ms. Tuyen.
Although she has just started working at M&S Vina Co., Ltd. (Hai Duong City), Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy felt excited when she heard her colleagues share about the Tet bonuses in previous years at the company. At the end of the year, what Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy looks forward to the most is the Tet bonus. Because this is the amount of money that helps Ms. Thuy and her family have a more complete Tet.
“Following an acquaintance’s recommendation, I applied for a job at M&S Vina Company Limited. Although I don’t know what the Tet bonus will be this year, the benefits and care provided by the company’s Union in the past are enough to make me feel secure about this year’s Tet bonus,” said Ms. Thuy.
Highest Tet bonus 150 million VND/person
According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Duong province, the situation of Lunar New Year bonuses in 2025 for employees in Hai Duong recorded the highest bonus of 150 million VND/person at a foreign-invested enterprise (FDI) in Nam Sach Industrial Park, 21.9% higher than the highest Tet bonus in 2024.
The lowest bonus is VND100,000/person in FDI and private enterprises. However, the average bonus decreased slightly by 2% compared to last year, reaching VND6.05 million/person; while the lowest bonus remains at VND100,000/person.
In the Lunar New Year 2025, the private enterprise sector will have a "leap" in Tet bonuses when it increases by 25%, in which the highest bonus recorded is 77.6 million VND/person, while the lowest is only 100,000 VND/person.
Preliminary assessment of salary and bonus data reported by enterprises shows that salaries and bonuses of employees mostly tend to increase with a significant increase compared to the 2023 report, partly due to the macro economy showing signs of positive recovery. On the other hand, from July 1, 2024, Hai Duong province has adjusted the minimum wage for the region and the applicable area, so employers have adjusted the average salary increase for employees accordingly.
Currently, the Trade Unions at all levels of Hai Duong province have been implementing many activities to encourage and motivate businesses to do a good job of giving Tet bonuses to employees.
