On September 10, the survey delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) worked at a number of enterprises in Dong Thap province to assess the implementation of Conclusion No. 03/KL-BCH on continuing to implement Resolution No. 7c/NQ-BCH on "Quality of lunch meals for workers".
The survey delegation was headed by Mr. Tong Van Bang - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Participating in the delegation were Ms. Ho Thi Kim Ngan - Member of the Standing Committee, Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial Labor Federation and members of the delegation.
According to the program, the delegation directly surveyed 3 enterprises with a large number of workers, including Bestway Vietnam Sports and Entertainment Products Co., Ltd., Advance Vietnam Tire Co., Ltd. in Long Giang Industrial Park and Asia Food Import-Export Joint Stock Company in Kim Son commune.
At enterprises, the delegation exchanged views on the implementation of Resolution No. 7c/NQ-BCH and Conclusion No. 03/KL-BCH; leadership, direction, propaganda, inspection, and supervision work; results of organizing lunch meals and the number of workers benefiting. The delegation also learned about the role of grassroots trade unions in proposing meal organization plans, collecting workers' opinions, dialogue, negotiation and incorporating lunch meal content into collective labor agreements.
The delegation directly surveyed at the enterprise's kitchen, focusing on understanding the form of meal organization, spending level and actual value of each meal, serving, nutritional structure, facilities conditions, hygiene and food safety. At the same time, the delegation recorded the level of satisfaction and feedback from workers on meal quality and the ability to meet nutritional needs, health, and labor regeneration after working hours.
At each business, 70 union members and workers participated in the survey. The delegation also conducted in-depth interviews with grassroots trade union officials and representatives of employers to collect multi-dimensional information and evaluate the actual organization of lunch meals at the business.
Through surveys, the delegation recorded difficulties and obstacles in organizing and maintaining lunch meals, especially in terms of resources, raw material prices, facilities, negotiation and supervision capacity of trade unions, responsibility of employers and food safety assurance work.
Opinions and proposals from businesses, grassroots trade unions and workers were recorded by the delegation to serve the evaluation of the results of implementing Resolution No. 7c/NQ-BCH and Conclusion No. 03/KL-BCH, and at the same time study solutions suitable to the actual conditions of businesses and the needs of workers.
Speaking at the working session, Mr. Tong Van Bang acknowledged the efforts and active coordination of grassroots trade unions and businesses in negotiating to improve the quality of lunch meals for workers.
Mr. Tong Van Bang proposed that grassroots trade unions continue to negotiate to improve the actual value and nutritional quality of meals; pay attention to ensuring food safety and promote the supervisory role in the process of organizing lunch meals.
According to Mr. Tong Van Bang, improving the quality of lunch meals not only contributes to caring for life but also helps workers ensure health, regenerate labor capacity, thereby supporting businesses to maintain stable human resources.
Survey activities in Dong Thap provide more practical information from the grassroots level, serving the evaluation of the results of implementing policies on improving the quality of lunch meals, and at the same time continue to promote the role of the Trade Union organization in dialogue, negotiation, supervision and care for the lives of union members and workers.
