According to Mr. Nguyen The Lap - Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation, right from the beginning of Workers' Month, trade union levels have closely coordinated with experts and employers to synchronously implement many programs. These activities are effectively integrated with the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in 2026.
The programs are organized flexibly, suitable to the specific production characteristics of each enterprise. Not only stopping at launching ceremonies, the trade union has organized propaganda on laws, safety inspections at workshops and directly visited and supported workers in remote and isolated areas. The care also extends to helping children of union members in orphaned circumstances. Recorded in May, the whole province had 523 grassroots trade unions deploying two or more activities, and 100% of grassroots units had specific responses.
One of the most directly effective imprints is the "May Dialogue" forum. 129 businesses have coordinated with trade unions to organize democratic dialogues right at the workplace, attracting the participation of more than 13,900 workers. Many conferences have brought practical results when employers signed commitments to increase the basic salary for workers from 3-5%, supplementing attendance allowances, and supporting housing and travel expenses.
In particular, 95 businesses have agreed to increase the value of meals to 20,000 - 25,000 VND. In parallel with that, close recommendations such as installing additional cooling fans, equipping drinking water filters, replacing protective clothing periodically and organizing general health check-ups are also being implemented by business owners on the spot.
Warm Trade Union Meal
If dialogue forums are places where workers can speak out, then social security programs are places where they feel more clearly the companionship of the Trade Union organization. Activities named "Thank you workers" continue to be promoted at factories. 523 businesses have organized gratitude activities in many forms such as meetings, giving gifts to support material and spiritual support for workers in difficult circumstances or people with long-term attachment.
The most anticipated event for union members is Trade Union Meals. During this peak period, more than 95 grassroots trade unions joined hands with businesses to prepare special meals with support levels from 45,000 - 55,000 VND/meal, an increase of 25,000 - 35,000 VND compared to normal days. The program brought joy to about 17,000 union members. Improved lunch meals not only help improve nutritional value, but also create an open sharing space between leaders and direct production workers.
In addition, trade union levels have mobilized socialized resources with a total amount of nearly 1.74 billion VND to promptly support 3,867 workers in difficult circumstances.
In May alone, Quang Tri established 13 new grassroots trade unions and admitted 1,500 new union members, reaching 141% of the set plan" - Mr. Nguyen The Lap said.
