Joy from small rewards
For many years, the Trade Union of G.O. C Export Food Processing Joint Stock Company (Bac Ninh) has maintained activities to care for union members and workers' children. Every year, children are given gifts on International Children's Day June 1st and Mid-Autumn Festival. In particular, for about 10 years, the Trade Union has coordinated with businesses to reward students who achieve good results, win prizes in exams and pass university entrance exams.
Mr. Luong Xuan Huy - Deputy Director of the Factory cum Head of the Mechanical and Electrical Department, Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of G.O. C Export Food Processing Joint Stock Company - said that timely commendation is not only meaningful in terms of material but also a great recognition and spiritual encouragement for the children and families of workers.
In the list of employees commended for academic achievements in 2026, Mr. Huy's family also has two grandchildren who received awards. His daughter won the first prize in the provincial-level scientific and technical research competition, receiving a bonus of 2 million VND. Her son who passed university this year was also commended by the Trade Union and the Company with 1 million VND.
That joy also came to the family of Ms. Do Thi Len, who has worked at the company for 20 years. Her son was born in 2008, this year he passed the university entrance exam in Hanoi. To study, he rented a room near the school for 2.8 million VND/month, not including electricity and water bills.
According to Ms. Len, on the occasion of National Day September 2 this year, the company will organize rewards for workers' children with good academic achievements, in which her son received 1 million VND for passing university. Previously, with achievements of 12 consecutive years as a good student, he was also rewarded by businesses many times.
Every time my child is rewarded by the trade union and the company, he is very happy. For my husband and I, it is also a great encouragement, like adding strength to continue trying" - Ms. Len shared.
Hoping for more practical policies
Ms. Len's husband has also been attached to the company for about 20 years. The total income of the couple ranges from 28-30 million VND/month. This is a fairly good income compared to the conditions in the countryside, but when both children are of school age, the family still has to balance and spend tightly.
Especially, when her son starts university, rent, living expenses, and tuition fees become a new burden for the worker's family. Therefore, Ms. Len hopes that the Trade Union's proposal to lend money to workers without interest when their children go to university will be considered and implemented soon by the business.
According to Mr. Luong Xuan Huy, this is a proposal that is receiving the support of many workers. If approved, the program will help workers' families reduce financial pressure in the early years their children enter university, creating more motivation for workers to feel secure and stick with the business for a long time.
“That will be a great joy and motivation for worker families with children studying at university, helping them have more conditions to continue to realize their dreams and study properly” - Mr. Huy said.
Not only at G.O. C Export Food Processing Joint Stock Company, before the new school year, trade unions at all levels in Bac Ninh also implemented many activities to care for children of union members and workers, especially children in difficult circumstances. Scholarships, cash, backpacks, books, and school supplies are handed over directly, helping workers' families reduce the cost pressure at the beginning of the school year.
In addition, programs to mobilize businesses to support tuition fees, textbooks, support sending children, and connect groups and classes near factories also contribute to helping workers feel secure in their work.
