The conference to commend "The press accompanies Labor Union of Ho Chi Minh City” in the period of 2018 - 2023 was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union on August 8.
In his speech at the conference, Mr. Phùng Thái Quang - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union - emphasized: In the period of 2018 - 2023, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) in general and the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union in particular entered a period of preparation for a new development period with many opportunities and challenges intertwined and complex.
The central and Ho Chi Minh City press agencies have produced a variety of works to promote the activities of the labor union organization and the labor movement in Ho Chi Minh City. These works have contributed to introducing, honoring, and highlighting the role of the labor union organization in caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, timely spreading practical and effective images and actions of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union, and suggesting issues for the labor union to implement its function of representing and protecting the rights and interests of workers in the new situation.
Through the articles and activities, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union has been clearly and truthfully presented, spreading positive values of the labor union, the trust of workers, contributing to making the whole society understand and share the difficulties of union members and workers, improving the quality of labor union activities, encouraging and motivating labor union levels and workers to fulfill their assigned tasks. The press is an effective bridge connecting union members and workers with the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union, contributing to enhancing the position and role of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; affirming its position and building the image of the working class, the labor union organization, and the labor movement in Ho Chi Minh City in the current period of renovation and deep international integration.
Especially, in the period of fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic, the team of journalists, especially the journalists being commended today, have produced special topics and articles to report on the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union in caring for and protecting workers, contributing to the city's efforts to overcome the pandemic, and contributing to the city's economic recovery and development after the pandemic, which has been highly appreciated and recognized by the entire political system and society.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union has commended and awarded the Certificate of Merit to 8 press agencies and 27 journalists and editors who have made significant contributions to the labor movement and labor union activities in Ho Chi Minh City, including the Lao Dong Newspaper and journalist Nam Dương of the Lao Dong Newspaper's Ho Chi Minh City Bureau.
