New trend of the Cloud market
As artificial intelligence (AI) is deployed on a larger scale, the need for infrastructure for data processing, stable operations and expansion will become more obvious, thereby promoting the cloud computing market.
According to the report of the Vietnam Data and Cloud computing Center, the domestic Cloud market is maintaining an average growth rate of about 16% per year and is forecast to reach a scale of 1.5 billion USD by 2030.
In addition, statistics show that 93% of enterprises in Vietnam have applied at least one AI tool in activities such as communication and customer approach, reflecting the increasing popularity of AI in enterprises.
As the demand for AI deployment increases, Cloud and AI Cloud platforms with the ability to provide flexible resources are being targeted by businesses as an option to deploy AI, instead of investing in individual infrastructure.
In response to that trend, some Vietnamese technology enterprises have made strategic adjustments to expand Cloud and AI Cloud capabilities. On December 16, VNG announced the merger of VNG Cloud and GreenNode, focusing all of its traditional Cloud and AI Cloud capabilities on a single platform.
Sharing about this decision with the media, Mr. Kelly Wong, General Director of VNG, said that when businesses switch from testing to AI deployment, the challenge is no longer in technology but in the ability to put AI into operation quickly, stably and under control.
Mr. Vu Thanh Tung, General Director of GreenNode, said: "We chose AI Cloud because this is an area where GreenNode can accompany and create clear value for businesses, through solving specific problems of data, performance and cost".

Market space is associated with regional trends
On a regional scale, AI Cloud is attracting large investment flows. According to statistics, in the first half of 2024, Southeast Asia attracted more than 30 billion USD to invest in AI infrastructure. The BCG report also shows that AI and GenAI are expected to contribute about $120 billion to the GDP of the ASEAN-6 group by 2027.
In addition to market size, sustainable development is also a factor for AI Cloud infrastructure, as training and operating AI models consumes a lot of energy. Some businesses said they are prioritizing cooperation with data centers that meet ESG criteria, to balance performance, costs and environmental impact.
According to experts, along with the increasingly clear demand for AI application in businesses, the AI Cloud market in Vietnam still has a lot of room for development. The expansion of cloud and AI Cloud capabilities of domestic technology enterprises is considered a factor contributing to diversifying infrastructure options, better meeting the requirements of AI implementation in the coming period.
